The Forest Sees Massive Player Count Spike
Steam sales are a great way for older titles to receive massive player boosts, withThe Forestseemingly becoming the latest game to get a sudden resurgence thanks to the platform’s newest Halloween sale. Up until November 4, Steam users can pick upThe Forestfor a massive 80% off, taking the price down to just $3.99 USD. Clearly, the huge price drop has appealed to plenty of survival horror fans, as the title has gone from between 5,000 and 7,000 concurrent users daily, right up to 67,000. The last major play peak was back in October 2023, during Steam’s previous Halloween sale, which sawThe Foresthit an all-time peak of 78,097 concurrent players.
This isn’t the first time thatThe Foresthas seen a massive player count boost. Back in February 2023, Endnight Games released a sequel to its hit survival game titledSons of the Forest. Unfortunately, the highly-anticipated follow-up is currently in Steam early access, which means it’s not available on consoles just yet. But shortly after the title was released,The Forestre-entered PlayStation’s most-downloaded games list, coming in at number three within Europe and number eight in North America.
While a console release has been speculated on, there’s no word on when the sequel will come to other platforms. But, given thatSons of the Foresthas been a huge success on Steam, a console release seems likely but has yet to be confirmed by Endnight Games. The title is also included in Steam’s ongoing Halloween sale, with users being able to pick up the sequel at a 45% discount, making it just $16.49 USD until November 4.
