First Metaphor: ReFantazio and Silent Hill 2 Remake Reviews Are Promising
And while the international review embargoes for these games have yet to be lifted, the latest weekly issue of Famitsu does include reviews of them both. Specifically, the Japanese magazine gaveMetaphor: ReFantazioa score of 37, while rating theSilent Hill 2remake with a 35, Gematsureports. For reference, all Famitsu ratings are derived from a total of four individual 1–10 scores, meaning both of these upcoming games received near-perfect ratings from a quartet of reviewers each.

In terms of the reviews' specifics, Famitsu praisedMetaphor: ReFantaziofor itsPersona-like combat system, which also borrows the Press Turn mechanic from theShin Megami Tenseiseries, allowing players to both gain and lose turns based on their actions in battle. The magazine’s reviewers were also impressed with the game’s overall volume of content, estimating that the average playthrough will be between 80 and 100 hours long.
Meanwhile, theSilent Hill 2remake was praised for its atmosphere and world design that manages to be both rooted in reality and deeply unsettling. Famitsu’s reviewers also enjoyed the game’s modernized visuals and voice acting. In terms of theSilent Hill 2remake’s length, they estimated that the first run through the game will take between 16 and 18 hours. The first October 2024 issue of Famitsu also includes reviews ofMetro Quester: OsakaandTouhou Genso Wanderer: Foresight, both of which have been awarded a rating of 29.
