Summary

It looks like Sony may be planning on re-releasing the 2003PlayStation 2gamePrimalon its new emulator. Beginning in 2016, Sony began portingPlayStation 2games to the PS4 with some enhancements and new features like trophy support. Unfortunately, some of these games have suffered from performance issues on the PS5.

To help combat these issues, Sony has started bringing PS2 games to a new emulator on both PS4 and PS5. Themost recent example of this isSiren, the classic survival-horror/stealth game that was previously available on PS4, but was re-released on the new emulator with a Platinum trophy and better performance on PS5. Now it seems that a 2003 PS2 game is next in line.

It was recently discovered that Sony has pulled 2003 PS2 action-adventure gamePrimalfrom sale on the PS5 PlayStation Store. This semi-delisting points in the direction ofPrimalmaking its way to the new PS2 emulator, which means it will likely be adding a Platinum trophy, likeSirendid. It’s likely that its performance issues on PS5 will also be rectified. When exactlyPrimalwill be making the jump remains to be seen, but one has to imagine that it will happen sooner rather than later.

Primal PS5 Issues Could Be Getting Fixed

These PS2 re-releases have often coincided with the games coming to thePremium tier of PlayStation Plus. That’s what happened withSiren, and so it stands to reason that the same will happen forPrimal. Other PlayStation 2-era games continue to have problems on PS5, and so hopefully they all make their way to the new emulator at some point. That way, fans on the latest hardware have a convenient way of checking out the classics.

In the meantime, other classic PS2 games are expected to come to PlayStation 5 as well. Rumor has it that thePS2-eraGod of Wargames are coming to PS Plus Premiumat some point, though no official plans to that effect have been announced at the time of this writing. Needless to say, PS2 fans on PS5 should definitely verify to keep an eye on all the new games coming to the Premium tier of PS Plus for the foreseeable future.
