Through those times, the clouds would have to part for a song to drop on my lap. But by my thirties, I started writing a lot of songs. I had a lot of songs that I liked by the time I hit 40, so I took about 10 or 15 of those songs to Jude (Cole) and just said I wanted to record them and see if any artists at BMI would like to do them. But Jude really liked them and said that I should do them.
