Generally, in most manhwa, the presence of a god signifies the presence of anexpansive power system, in addition to a cast that is likely to have multiple overpowered characters, including the protagonist. Therefore, where there is power, there is a likelihood of a clash of powers between opposing forces, usually in the form of good versus evil.

However, this piece focuses on the evil side of things, specifically evil gods. These entities have surpassed humanity and achieved transcendence by simply being created as they are or have attainedtheir godhood statusby amassing unimaginable power and using these powers to pursue their endless selfish interests to the detriment of other characters. So, regarding these gods, below is a list of the most villainous gods in manhwa.

Tartarus - Doom Breaker

5Tartarus - Doom Breaker

Monarch of Demons

The God of Destruction, Tartarus, is themain and final antagonistof theDoom Breakerseries. True to his title, Tartarus wishes destruction upon every world in existence. Being an existence living for the sole purpose of destruction, Tartarus is responsible for the annihilation of countless worlds, and Zephyr’s world is just one of the many more he wishes to inflict the same fate on.

Very little is known about him or how he comes to be before the story’s beginning; however, the one thing that is definite about him is his absolute despise for humans who he refers to as lessers. Tartarus is not a being that wants to be worshipped, he simply just craves unbridled destruction and will do anything to achieve this in the story’s world. A silver lining about his evil nature is probably the straightforward way in which he seeks destruction, even though his supposed followers in the story use many roundabout methods to achieve their objectives.

Moyong Yul-Cheon - Legend of the Northern Blade

4Moyong Yul-Cheon - Legend of the Northern Blade

The Immortal

The immortal being and controller of the world of theLegend of the Northern Bladeseries, Moyong Yul-Cheon is the story’s main and final villain and, technically, the creator of the story’s universe. While his godhood is on a technicality, Moyong is arguably the worst of every candidate in this piece. Before attaining immortality, Moyong’s origins are a savage and brutally bloody life of survival and self-taught martial arts alongside his twin brother. However, aftergrowing too powerfuland achieving transcendence, Moyong grew to see all below him as usable and disposable.

Unable to be killed and desperately yearning to satiate his ever-growing boredom, Moyong began to play the role of god by first creating the Central Heavenly Alliance, then the Northern Heavenly Sect, and finally the Silent Night. All of these are the story’s main opposing forces, all to attempt to curb his boredom. A highly manipulative and sadistic being, Moyong, has no grand plans other than to control the martial world, a plan he had since achieved following the creation of the Silent Night. He simply orchestrates a world full of strife, suffering, and endless bloodshed for his own trivial amusement.

Zeus - Leveling With The Gods

3Zeus - Leveling With The Gods

Ruler of The Sky

The Ruler of the Skies and the King of Olympus, Zeus is the self-proclaimed ruler of the Tower inLeveling With The Gods. The father to Hargaan and Hercules, Zeus’ role in the story is neither good nor evil but something in-between, as he is simply an entity obsessed with surpassing the Tower. However, the actions required to achieve his objectives earned his placement. Extremely cautious and highly calculative, Zeus is a being who prioritizes logic and rationality. However, his rationality includes some of the most heinous and vile acts in the history of the Tower, like the Gigantomachia.

Being the father to many rankers, Zeus used and disposed of his children and others as no more than pawns to his plans, viewing them as stepping stones to his grand objective. As the strongest ranker inall of Olympus, Zeus is terrifyingly strong, and his overwhelming strength is the foundation of his twisted morality. However, overwhelming power is only half of his true capabilities. The genius of Olympus, Zeus is an irrationally calculative and manipulative deity who, despite all of his power, prefers to act behind the scenes, using his followers and children as hands and feet to carry out his objectives and never directly taking responsibility for anything.

God God Game

2God - God Game

N/A

The creator and overseer of theGod Game, a brutal, bloody, andhellish series of gamescompeted for by specific humans and deities alike, where the winner receives one wish as the last remaining survivor, God is the story’s main and final villain. While the existence of the God Game is enough reason to warrant placement on this list, on the surface, it only takes place to serve the amusement and entertainment of the supreme deity. The true purpose of theGod Gameis shown to be as complex as the being behind it.

An authoritarian and evil deity, God handles the God Game as his chessboard with no regard or concern for the beings forced to participate in the cruel game as long as it serves him no purpose. Being an entity with unlimited power, he has no patience for defiance, no matter how little, and doesn’t hesitate to use the game as a measure of punishment as he does with Son Wukong. Surprisingly, his origins are unknown as he is an existence described by other gods as one who just suddenly appeared out of nowhere and subjugated every other god in existence simply because he could.

Park Mubong - God of High  School

1Park Mubong - God of High School

The Supreme God Among Gods

Originally a human named Park Mujin, Park Mubong is the final villain of theGod of High Schoolseries and the Supreme God. The former member of the Six, Mubong, initially appears as a simply over-ambitious person who would do anything to achieve his goals, and truly that is the kind of person he was as a human. However, after attaining the status of the Supreme God, Mubong’s cruelty grows infinitely due to being the most powerful being in the universe.

While all of his actions leading up to becoming were supposedly to preserve humanity as its savior, Mubong completely abandons those he sought to protect, claiming that humans were as hopeless as other gods had suggested. So bad is his distaste for the ‘old humanity’ that he willingly sacrificed his unborn child to ensure the destruction of humanity. While it could be argued that his motives retained a sense of logic and rationality, the heinous acts committed to achieve them are far too great not to earn him his placement on this list.
