The Apothecary Diaries is basedon the light novel of the same name written by Natsu Hyūga and illustrated by Touko Shino. It started serializing on Shosetsuka ni Naro in 2011. The Apothecary Diaries was still popular, but what introduced it to mainstream audiences was the anime.
The adaptation was announced back in 2019. It was also confirmed that the anime would have a total of 24 episodes in the initial season. Once the anime started airing, it gained a lot of traction, and almost all the reviews were positive. In fact, it managed toscore a rating of 8.89 on MyAnimeList. So it’s hardly surprising that the studio wasted no time in announcing the subsequent season.

When it comes to the staff, it is highly probable that Norihiro Naganuma will reprise his role as director and scriptwriter. The Apothecary Dairies received a manga adaptation in 2017. It was written by Itsuki Nanao and illustrated by Nekokurage. It was serialized in Monthly Big Gangan, and so far more than 15 volumes have been released.
