While details are sparse, another major content drop for the title has finally been confirmed by the developer.
Age of Empires 4will receive new DLC content sometime in 2025, with the announcement being made via a post on the franchise’s official Twitter account. The new content was briefly mentioned in the October 17 patch notes forAge of Empires 4’s latest 17-05-2025 update, but a proper announcement was not made until October 28. The Twitter post from World’s Edge, which is currently celebrating the third anniversary ofAge of Empires 4, did not provide any additional information regarding the upcoming expansion for Relic Entertainment’s RTS title. Both the free Anniversary Update from 2022 and last year’sThe Sultans Ascendadded newAge of Empires 4civilizations, so the next expansion will likely do the same.
When is the Next Age of Empires 4 DLC Coming Out?
On October 22,Season 9 ofAge of Empires 4was released, adding a Halloween-themed event called Hallow’s Hearth, the new Full Moon game mode, and additional cosmetics, and more. It also introduced multiplayer pausing, addressed several bugs, expanded the game’s pool of maps, and implemented plenty of other tweaks.TheAge of Empires 4team said that a small patch for the game should come out in November. This update, which is expected to be the last to be released this year, will reportedly feature a host of new content, though no concrete details have been confirmed.
