A new patch for Remedy Entertainment’sAlan Wake 2addresses several issues and makes some tweaks related to the survival horror title’s recently released second DLC,The Lake House. Since its release in 2023,Alan Wake 2has received a steady stream of updates that have introduced additional features, delivered bug fixes, and enhanced the title’s performance, among other things. The newest patch for what many consider to be one of2023’s best horror gameshas just gone live on all platforms, changing a few things found in the title’s most recent DLC.
The July 18, 2025 update forAlan Wake 2, referred to as the 1.2.3 patch on PC, increased the number of health items that can be found inThe Lake Houseand reduced the damage output of the grapple attack utilized by the expansion’s new Painted enemies. This latest build, known as versions 1.200.003 and 1.2.0.3 on the Sony PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, respectively, also addressed some issues. Among these was a bug that prevented players from unlocking theShape of a Man achievement inAlan Wake 2’sThe Lake HouseDLC. Another issue caused the expansion’s main character, FBC agent Kiran Estevez, to perform some weird animations.
Previously,Alan Wake 2’s Anniversary updateadded new gameplay assist functions such as god mode, infinite ammo, and unlimited batteries. It also introduced support for the PS5 Pro and the DualSense controller’s motion sensor/gyro controls, as well as increasing the internal render resolution of the Xbox Series X and refining haptics on both the PC and PS5.
In February, Remedy Entertainment revealed thatAlan Wake 2had already sold 1.3 million copies. The title managed to rack up an average score of 89 on OpenCritic, making it one of the highest-rated 2023 games on the review aggregate site. Critics and gamers alike have praisedAlan Wake 2’s immersive atmosphere, strong characters, and well-written narrative.
Remedy Entertainment has started development on the sequel toControl, the award-winning 2019 action-adventure experience that is currently available on Xbox Game Pass. During the most recent Xbox Partner Preview Event, theAlan Wake 2studio announced afirst-personControlspin-off calledFBC: Firebreakthat will be a day-one release on the popular subscription service. This upcoming shooter will be Remedy Entertainment’s very first multiplayer game.
