Summary

TheNew World Aeternumarchetype system has seven classes to choose from. Each class offers players a specificweapon combinationto start with and a boost in certain crafting professions. While these are important to consider when players first begin the game, eventually they will have the freedom to change their build.

Whether a player has a specific play style in mind or is new to the world of MMORPG, there is a perfect archetype inNew World Aeternum. These recommendations offer tips on choosing the right archetype based on each of the class’s weapons, skill boosts, and abilities.

the soldier

1The Soldier

Best For Tank Builds

The Soldier is a solid choice for all types of players, from newbies to veterans. In solos, the Soldier shines as a damage-dealer who can take hits, defend themselves easily, and deal out attacks with the Sword or Hatchet. The boost in weapon-making, mining, and smelting means they can craft some amazing weaponry pretty early on. The Soldier’s primary weapons share attribute scaling in Strength and Dexterity, making this archetype a quick and capable fighter.

In PVP, the Soldier archetype is the ideal tank due to its balance in attack and defense. This is a great choice for players who want to be in the midst of the action and don’t mind taking defensive hits for their teammates. This is also a great archetype for those who are not sure what their play style will be and just want the strongest start inNew World: Aeternum.

the ranger

2The Ranger

Best All-Rounder

The Ranger is anexcellent ranged damage-dealerinNew World: Aeternum. The Bow brings AOE abilities and can hold off multiple enemies, making it highly suitable for both PVP and PVE modes. The Spear is essential when the enemy gets closer and can be effective against single enemy targets and as crowd control. The combination of Bow and Spear takes a little time to perfect, but when mastered they can become quite formidable. Because the weapon stats scale in Dexterity, players can switch out the spear for a Hatchet, which is arguably a stronger weapon.

The Ranger’s combo of trade skills boosts and quick, silent attacks on wildlife, allows players to explore the woodlands with ease. If players are looking for an archetype to buff their resource-gathering and boost their gold income, then the Ranger is a great pick. Engineering and Woodworking skills can be essential for players focused on crafting tools for speedy resource gathering.

the mystic

3The Mystic

Best For Healers

The Mystic is a top pick for PVP players who would like to play the healer of the group. This role is essential for group modes, especially in a group where many players have DPS or tank builds. It may not seem like it at the start of the adventure, but this archetype has an important role when facing off against enemies in raids and other group modes. The Mystic’s abilities not only heal but provide buffs for allies and debuffs to enemies.

This archetype may not be the first pick for new players, but veteran players will know how important a support role can be. The Arcana trade skill is very helpful when it comes to crafting potions andmagical weaponswhile Harvesting and Weaving can boost players' ability to craft outfits with helpful buffs. This archetype is all about preparing for big battles and supporting others in a time of need.

the destroyer

4The Destroyer

Best For DPS

The Destroyer is another archetype for players who want to focus on a tank build. They are strong fighters but slower than the Soldiers due to the massivetwo-handed weapons- the Hammer and the Great Axe - they must wield. Most PVP groups will have a Destroyer in the team to perform heavy hits and control crowds of enemies. This slow but steady weaponry skill makes it an ideal choice for group modes where they will have allies to back them up, but it is more difficult for solo players.

The Destroyer is weak in long, drawn-out fights but excels in short bursts. This means they can charge into the fray and cause real damage to the enemy front line, but they must have a team to back them up. The slow nature of wielding such massive weapons can cause them to become easily overwhelmed unless they are in an organized group of fighters.

the occultist

5The Occultist

Best For AOE

The Occultist harnesses the power of fire and ice, a deadly combination when used correctly. This archetype can be useful at range, with the Fire Staff offering excellent AOE damage and some crowd control. In a group, the Occultist can slow the enemy and give their teammates the chance to deliver big blows. As a solo player, the player may need to master the weaponry to be able to take on higher-level enemies due to the lack of defensive attributes.

The Fire Staff and Ice Gauntlet both offer debuffs and DOT attacks and with the right combination of abilities, they can be effective, especially in a group. This archetype also brings trade skill boosts to support the crafting of mystical gems and jewelry. These shiny trinkets can bring helpful buffs, but they can also bea great way of making some gold.If players want a way to eventually earn a lot of gold then this is a great choice of archetype.

the musketeer

6The Musketeer

Best Experienced Players

The Musketeer can be a steep learning curve for new players thanks to the strategic and precise nature of the class. This archetype comes with a long-range weapon, the Musket, and a fast blade for close combat: the Rapier. This combo calls for a fighting style in which the player must know when to rush in for quick hits with the Rapier, and when to back off and utilize the Musket.

The Musket requires accuracy and precision, and if the player fails, they have a long reload time to contend with. It isn’t a terrible choice for PVE modes, but players may find it difficult to fend off large groups of enemies due to the lack of area attacks. This is where the quick and accurate shots must come in, and why new players may fail. Players must be consistent and be able to focus on one target at a time, leaving the crowd control to Destroyers and Occultists.

the swordbearer

7The Swordbearer

Best At Close Range

The Swordbearer has a good combination of weapons, with the Greatsword and the Blunderbuss giving the player the chance to hit the enemy hard while also taking hits. This archetype would struggle at long range, but up close it has the potential for good multi-enemy hits. The Greatsword gives AOE damage with the massive sweeps of the blade, and the Blunderbuss can be devastating at very close range.

Despite having such a good combo of weapons, this archetype is let down by the trade skills in Cooking, Fishing, and Leatherworking. Cooking is the skill players level up naturally as they progress anyway, and it seems pretty useless to give it to a tank class. Fishing is considered the same. The resources salvaged from fish can be helpful in crafting but are not particularly good boosts for what could be a strong tank build. To make use of Leatherworking, the player should instead focus on boosting the Refining skill to craft hard-wearing leather armor.
