The first major DLC ofStarfieldadded a bunch of new content to the game.Shattered Spacehas some interesting things to offer, and before you grav jump your way into this DLC, you’ll want to know exactly what you’ve signed yourself up for.
Updates prior toShattered Spaceadded mostly technical improvements and small content additions, such asStarfield’sREV-8 rover. As far as the DLC is concerned, there’s enough new meat here to offer a completely new experience, one that should scratch a specific itch for players who have been craving a concentrated, narrative-driven experience. The House Va’ruun Storyline
If you’re one of those people who felt that House Va’ruun didn’t as much time under the spotlight compared to the UC and Freestar Collective, then you’ll be glad to know thatShattered Spacefocuses purely on this mysterious factioin. There’sa lot more to Starfield’s House Va’ruun factionthan violent zealots and their enigmatic space snake god, and if you already own the DLC, you may start this questline by warping to any non-quest-related planet, answering a distress call, anddoing the What Remains quest.
New Planet: Va’ruun’kai
The vast majority ofShattered Space’scontent takes place on the planet of Va’ruun’kai, House Va’ruun’s homeworld that’s dealing with a major crisis involving space ghosts. Unlike many other procedurally-generated planets in the game,this one is curated, and it’s packed with interesting things to discover while exploring. This, along with the main missions and sidequests,givesShattered Spacea more traditional Bethesda game experience.
New Weapons And Equipment
Shattered Spaceis admittedly light on gear, but players can expect somenew Va’ruun-themed weapons, grenades, and armoras they try to uncover the mysteries plaguing Va’ruun’kai. Some are reskinned and refitted versions ofStarfield’sexisting equipment, while others are totally new and unique to the DLC. If you’re a fan of House Va’ruun’s particle weapons and theirDune-like armor and clothing, then you’ll find tons of both while playing this expansion.
General Improvements And Fixes
The launch of the expansion also came withthe release of a hefty patchaimed toward makingStarfieldbetter in general. Players can expect better performance, less crashing and stuttering, improved lighting and environments, and fewer issues related to some previously-buggy quests. These aren’t necessarily tied toShattered Space, but if you’re a returning player, then you might find that some pain points from the game’s previous versions have now been fixed.
