Summary

The final season ofBosch: Legacywill air onPrime Videochannel, Freevee in March 2025, buta fan uprising is building that will hopefully lead to Amazon reconsidering their decisionto cancel one of their best shows. Of course, Amazon claim they didn’t cancelBosch: Legacy, and spouted a load of PR nonsense to try to trick the fans into thinking it was all part of the plan.Head of television for Amazon MGM Studios, Vernon Sanders, even said there was ‘more to come’ after the cancelation, and mere weeks later, they announced the Jerry Edgar spin-off had also been axed.

As it stands, the Bosch-verse is only moving forward with theRenee Ballard spin-off series, and is turning its back on the roots of the Bosch universe. Amazon’s streaming service is the house that Harry Bosch built, and he’s being asked to vacate the premises, and just pop in from time to time in theBallardseries. There isn’t more to come, and if they continue basing their ‘content strategy’ on junk algorithms,Ballardcould be the next casualty of Amazon’s cancelation culture, and where will that leave the Bosch universe?

Vernon Sanders is the man who sits in the big chair of Amazon’s content operations division, and it is quite possible that he doesn’t actually own a television of his own. Or if he does, he doesn’t watch it. Surely, they could prop one up in his luxury office, while he sits there pressing buttons on his computer to track how many people are buying dishwashers during the ad breaks, to help him decide which shows to cancel next.If Sanders and his cohorts really watchedBoschandBosch: Legacyand saw how Michael Connelly’s rich and textured universe has evolved over the last decade on television screens, he would see the value in the expansion of the universe. After the ‘cancelation’ ofBosch: Legacy, he releasedthis statement:

For ten years, ‘Bosch’ and ‘Bosch: Legacy’ have been two of our most defining series for Prime Video, Freevee, and Amazon MGM Studios. They are a testament to the enduring power of the storytelling universe that Michael Connelly built for the fans. We are proud of the impact these series have made, and we are excited that Michael, Titus, Henrik and the creative team have more engaging stories to tell in the ‘Bosch’ world with the final season of ‘Bosch: Legacy,’ our new Ballard series and more to come.

Amazon are so proud ofBosch: Legacy, they canceled it without allowing thecreative team to end the story properly. They may as well endBosch: Legacyseason 3, with Harry Bosch and company chomping on onion rings at Musso and Frank’s, while a suspicious patron heads into the bathroom wearing a ‘I lovePreston Borders’ t shirt, with a jazz version of Journey’sDon’t Stop Believinblaring out of the airwaves before abruptly cutting to black. There isn’t more to come, other than recurring appearances by Harry Bosch inBallard. So, why is Vernon Sanders saying there is? Just weeks afterBosch: Legacy’s cancelation, Amazon axed theJerry Edgar spin-off.Is Amazon trying to clear their plate of Bosch related shows, and hopingBallardfails? This way, they can be done with it all, and replace it with dumb reality shows and NFL highlights.

Bosch: Legacy Key Facts

Fans Are Excited About The Renee Ballard Series But They Have Been Tricked By Amazon Into Thinking It Would Be The Next Phase In The Expansion Of The Bosch-verse

The majority of fans are excited about the Renee Ballard series, but they were originally sold the show as part of an open universe, co-existing withBosch: LegacyandJerry Edgar.Thefan uproar atBosch: Legacy’s untimely endingis not a slight onBallard. In fact, it is in support ofBallard, and all the work that is going into making it a great show. It makes no sense to haveBallardtake the baton, and be the center of the Bosch-verse, without the support ofBosch: Legacyas the parent show. Has there ever been a spin-off with a brand-new character introduced at the expense of the main show?

Knock on doors!

Amazon doesn’t have a clue about universe building, andifBallardgets canceled after one season, it won’t be because the show isn’t great. It’ll be because of a bunch of pencil pushers making so-called ‘business’ decisions.Bosch: Legacyhas three co-leads (plus many excellent supporting characters) and Maddie Bosch and Honey Chandler’s arcs are just as important as Harry Bosch’s story. These characters won’t be regulars inBallard, sothe end ofBosch: Legacyreally is the end of the road for them. Sure, Maddie, Honey and the rest of the gang might make guest appearances inBallard, but they won’t get the same exploration as they did inBosch: Legacy. It’s important to put these things out there’in the universe’so the fans know what’s really going on. The more people push back on it, the bigger the movement gets. The voices become louder, and doors become harder to shut.
