Summary

The release of the second season ofArcane: League of Legendsis coming up. Season 2 is expected to be the finale of Jinx and Vi’s story, but it might not be the end of the road for everyone.

Arcaneis an adaptation of Riot’s popular online multiplayer game,League of Legends, which is brought to life in Fortiche’s unique animated style.Arcanedebuted to perfect reviews and has only gained popularity over the three years since its first season was released. The series expands on the lore of Runeterra and many of its champions, providing a gripping backstory for Vi, Jinx, Jayce, Viktor, and more. WithArcaneSeason 1 so widely acclaimed, many were expecting it to be the start of a long-running series. However, it was revealed in June that Season 2 would be the end ofArcaneas fans know it. Arcane Co-Creator Hints at Character Returns Beyond Season 2

The nature of some of thoseArcanestories may have now been revealed. In a recentinterview with Screen Rant, Linke confirmed that the team is working on “a bunch of new projects” in theArcaneworld. Some of those stories will be set in different regions and with other characters from theLeague of LegendsIP. However, Linke teased that some are also “continuations of character’s stories fromArcane.” Linke said, “Definitely, there are some character stories that we want to continue.” This is the first inkling fans have gotten thatArcanecould get something of a sequel with returning characters, rather than a reboot or spin-off that introduces entirely new ones, which initially seemed to be the franchise’s intention.

“Arcane is just the first one. We’re working on a bunch of new projects, a bunch of new stories from across the different regions and characters of our IP, and some of them are actually continuations of character stories from Arcane. So, definitely, there are some character stories that we want to continue.”

It’s unclear whereArcaneSeason 2 will leave its characters. The series has established that it’s not afraid to kill off major players, with the entirety ofPiltover’s ruling council seemingly deadafter the events of Season 1. It doesn’t seem likely that everyone will make it out alive ofArcaneSeason 2, but for those who do remain, it means fans don’t necessarily have to say goodbye to them in November. It’s likely the planned spin-offs will not include Vi or Jinx as their story is set to reach a definitive end inArcaneSeason 2, but that doesn’t rule out ensemble characters like Ekko, Heimerdinger, or Caitlyn from getting their own series (assuming they survive), or at least making a cameo.

ArcaneSeason 2 is also expected to introduce some new characters, who could be ripe for exploration in their own dedicated series after initially being set up inArcane. Theories as towhich characters fromArcanecould return in the future are endless, but nothing can be certain until the Netflix series reaches its conclusion on November 23. Given the goodwill the series has earned so far, it’s likely fans will tune into another series from theArcaneteam, regardless of who is at the center of it.

ArcaneSeason 2 will release its first part on Netflix on July 25, 2025.
