Summary
Arcanestood out on Netflix for multiple reasons. The animated series had a well-crafted story that filled in the backstory of the characters in theLeague of Legendsworld, it had an incredible animation style designed by French studio Fortiche, and it had a killer soundtrack.
Riot Games’League of Legendsis known for often collaborating with major music artists to create new songs for its championship games. Most recently, the studio paired with the newly revived Linkin Park to create its 2024 Worlds Anthem “Heavy is the Crown”, a song that will also seemingly be featured in theArcaneSeason 2 soundtrack. Riot’s “Get Jinxed” music video received 133 million views on YouTube and is often considered one of themajor inspirations for whatArcanewould become. The song was even featured briefly in an episode of the Netflix show. When it comes toArcane’ssoundtrack, it’s clear that the music should not be overlooked and may even contain hints of what’s to come.
Arcane Season 2 Soundtrack Track Listing
Netflix unveiled theofficial track listing forArcaneSeason 2weeks ago, confirming a number of big-name artists will be collaborating on the new season, including Freya Ridings, Twenty One Pilots, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and King Princess. Imagine Dragons is also featured on the tracklist with their song “Enemy” which plays during the TV series' opening credits. The full track list forArcaneSeason 2 on Spotify is as follows:
Along with the original music from the artists above there are two tracksfeatured in the Spotify listthat don’t have names attached. One is mysteriously titled “TRACK 10” and the other is “Spin the Wheel”, with their artists listed as Arcane. Arcaneusually releases the original score separately from the soundtrack, so it’s possible the names and artists for these tracks are just placeholders right now and will be revealed later when the episodes air.
Hints and Clues From Arcane Season 2 Songs
WhileArcane’soriginal soundtrack features a variety of songs from different artists, they are often constructed to suit the vibe of the episode they’re in. Many clues were dropped in the track names for Season 1 that hinted at what was happening at the time the song was being played. For example, Bea Miller’s “Playground” was played when first introducing the underworld city of Zaun, and Sting’s “What Could Have Been” is played in the final moments of the season, whenJinx decides to attack the Piltover Council. So can something similar be said for the songs in Season 2 ofArcane?
Most of the song titles inArcane’ssoundtrack list will probably only make sense in retrospect, but the titles do suggest certain themes. Ashnikko’s “Paint the Town Blue” has already been released as part ofArcaneSeason 2’s first trailer. The title is clearly meant to be a homage to Jinx, who has blue hair and often leaves a spray-painted calling card, and will seemingly be a key part of Zaun’s uprising in Season 2. The soundtrack features multiple shout-outs to rebellion in track titles like “Renegade” and “Rebel Heart”, which could be a reference to Ekko and his team of Firelights. With Season 2 ofArcanebeing the last for Jinx and Vi’s story, things have been set up for a brutal ending, and some of the tracks seem to hint at this with titles like “Blood Sweat & Tears”, “Hellfire” and “To Ashes and Blood”.
Some song titles that inspire intriguing theories are d4vd’s “Remember Me” and Mako & Grey’s “What Have They Done to Us”. The first title could be about a character that has died and makes a return, which would support fan theories such as one that speculates Vander will be resurrectedin the form of the werewolf, Warwick. “What Have They Done to Us” feels like it might be a reflective song, that perhaps examines how different Vi and Jinx have become since they were beloved siblings in Act 1 of Season 1.ArcaneSeason 2’s soundtrack also features a French title, “Ma Meilleure Ennemie”, which in English translates to “My Best Enemy.” This could reference several things, but it seems no coincidence that the series' opening titles are set to Imagine Dragons' “Enemy”, so this would adhere to the theme of enemies thatArcaneexplores.
ArcaneSeason 2 will be released on Netflix in three parts on November 9, November 16, and November 23.
