SteamDB player count chartsdon’t paint a pretty picture for the early days ofAssassin’s Creed Mirage’s Steam release. On the first Saturday of its release, when it would be expected to retain the most players, the game peaked at 6,381 players at the time of writing. Looking at the recentgames in theAssassin’s Creedseries,Originspeaked at 41,551 players,Odysseyat 62,069, andValhallaat 15,679. Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s Steam Player Count is Lower Than Recent Entries

To put these numbers into perspective, at the exact time of writing,Assassin’s Creed Miragehas 3,691 current players.Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which was released back in 2018, has 3,370. These rough early numbers could change, of course, but they’re certainly surprising, especially given thatAssassin’s Creed Miragelaunched on Steamwith a steep 50% discount, bringing it down to $24.99 until October 24.

There’s no doubt that the numbers are skewed by the delayed Steam release, but that won’t be a problem for Ubisoft games going forward.Assassin’s Creed Shadowswill launch day one on Steam, as will most games from the publisher going forward, which should make a big difference in making that player count look much healthier for the series. As for the series as a whole, it’s going to be a busy few years. A recent rumor has suggested thattenAssassin’s Creedgames are set to release in the next five years, which would be a large ramp-up for a series that didn’t release a mainline title in either 2021 or 2022. Let’s wait and see if it comes to fruition.
