Astro Bot’s Update 1.005 is now available, and it adds a brand-new speedrun level to the game. This new level, which is called “Building Speed,” is accessible to all players who have beatenAstro Bot, and it is home to two new Special Bots and has its own online leaderboard.
Astro Botwas released to critical acclaim in September 2024, and players have been busy working through its 75 stages ever since. However, anAstro Bottrailerthat was included in Sony’s most-recent State of Play event revealed that the number of stages in the game is not fixed. More specifically, the trailer confirmed that five new speedrun levels will be added toAstro Botover time.
The first of those speedrun levels is Building Speed, and it was released on Jul 11, 2025 as part of Update 1.005. Players can access Building Speed from a new galaxy that appears afterbeatingAstro Bot(and applying the approximately-2GB update), and they will need to enlist the assistance of Barkster if they hope to get through the stage. While working toward Building Speed’s end, fans will have the opportunity to rescue two Special Bots, both of which reference Sony-published titles from 2024.
Astro Bot Will Add Five Speedrun Levels
Building Speed is just the beginning of the post-launch speedrun levels that are coming toAstro Bot, and there are four more on the horizon.Astro Botplayerswill gain access to one of those new stages every Thursday at 6am PDT, and here is the confirmed release schedule:
As is the case withAstro Bot’s Building Speed stage, each of the additional levels will contain two Special Bots to find and have an associated leaderboard. Without question, the competition for the top spots on those leaderboards will be fierce, and fans who want to climb the ranks will need to optimize their strategies to a high degree.
Players can already see this high level of optimization materializing on the Building Speed leaderboard. Indeed, fans are already getting very impressive times on that first speedrun level, and the competition has really just begun. Players should expect to see the times at the top of the leaderboard continually decrease until October 24, when the top competitors will likely shift their attention to Let it Slide, the second speedrun stage.
