Hasbro has been on a roll lately with their tabletop games. Their subsidiary, Avalon Hill, has been doing a particularly stupendous job at releasing awesome new board games aimed at gamers of all skills. They’verevampedHeroQuestand evenre-launchedTalisman, making it easier than ever to dive into the world of RPG board games.
At the same time, they’ve successfully launched a brand-new game,Life in Reterra. This tile-laying game was reviewed by Game Rant earlier this year and was an absolute blast to play. The game comes with a high replayability and now, players will be able to find even more ways to enjoy the game.
Eric Lang and Ken Gruh went back to the drawing table to design some exciting new elements toLife in Reterra. The award-winning game designers have been hard at work to deliver an expansion of the core game’s post-apocalyptic world, and it seems thatMoonrisewill add a lot of depth to the game’s plot thanks to the addition of a new moon, which brings along new moon, new events and new meanings.
Getting down to specifics, theLife in Reterra Moonriseexpansion pack includes 30 Moon Tiles, 10 Double-Sided Building Cards, 54 Building Tiles, 2 Storage Trays, 3 Lunar Event Boards, 16 Inhabitant Pawns, 10 Junk/Relic Tokens, and an Expansion Guide. Based on images that have been revealed so far, the three Lunar Event boards will offer much of the same effects as existing pieces, albeit with new and interesting combos available. ‘The Prosperous Moons" board rewards players with the most inhabitants, ‘The Enlightened Moons’ board rewards those with the most relics, and ‘The Industrial Moons’ reward the most buildings.
The art design has stayed the same and is just as vibrant as ever. We also expect that the printing quality will once again be above-average compared to basically every other small board game. All the building tiles have been revealed, and include things such as the planetarium, lunar power plant, and train station.
Although there will probably be pre-made tile sets, a huge part ofLife in Reterrais the ability to mix and match tiles for each game. With these new building types, you may create a new story for your settlement. Every finished settlement looks different, and you can imagine a wide variety of bustling post-apocalyptic life using the pieces being added byMoonrise.
TheLife in Reterra Moonriseexpansion will fit right into the base game, meaning that nothing much should change as far as playtime and difficulty. However, adding so many new buildings and effects is sure to increase the strategy needed to win. TheMoonriseexpansion is expected to be available through both Amazon and Target for $20, starting next year, on March 1st, 2025.

Life in Reterra
Life in Reterra is a community (re)building game, set in the near future when the world as we know it is an overgrown memory. Civilization continues though, using scraps of the old world and natural resources. Each player is tasked with building their own community by laying tiles representing diverse terrain and filling them with buildings and inhabitants. This strategic tile game features an engaging story, mental depth, incredible custom artwork, and endless replayability. It’s a fun game for family events and friendly game nights. And tile-laying games for adults and families make great gifts for kids ages 10 and up and gamers.
