Honkai: Star Railis a turn-based game where players must wait until it’s their turn to move to attack the enemy. However, there are some ways to deal damage without even moving. For example, having units that perform Follow-up Attacks (FUA) can trigger an attack in the middle of the enemy’s turn.

FUA was initially introduced with units like Herta and Himeko, and players can also learn about its existence from the Elation Blessings in the Simulated Universe. At first, there were only a limited number of characters with this playstyle, but it later became a part of the meta. Here are thebest Follow-Up Attack DPS inHonkai: Star Rail.

Best Light Cone

Jing Yuan relies on his Lightning Lord to deal damage. When he was released in version 1.0, he easily became the top DPS, but once players get deeper into the game, his viability drops greatly.

In the current meta, characters rely on their SPD to deal damage, yet his Lightning Lord can’t reach the SPD breakpoint required inHonkai: Star Railto move multiple times in a cycle. This means Jing Yuan is far slower compared to many other DPS, placing him on the lower side of theHSRtier list.

Jing Yuan

When comparing Herta’s damage to Jing Yuan, the Luofu General generally deals higher damage. Still,Herta has more uses due to how her mechanics workand how some end-game content is. For example, in the Pure Fiction inHonkai: Star Rail, Herta is highly viable when the stage buffs Follow-up Attack (FUA). She unleashes an FUA each time an enemy goes below 50%, so in gameplay such as Pure Fiction where there are multiple enemies, Herta can continuously perform her FUA and activate the stage effect.

Although Clara is partially defensive with her kit, if players focus on buffing her damage, she can be a crazy FUA DPS. In battle, Clara relies on Svarog to deal damage, but unlike Jing Yuan with his Lightning Lord summon, Svarog is not a summon. Instead, he protects Clara by doing a Counter when Clara gets hit. Getting hit is the key to maximizing Clara’s DPS; as a Destruction character, she inherently has more chance of being attacked, but she can also increase this chance by using her Ultimate.

Jade can deal some massive Follow-up Attack damage, but her kit is so specific that she’s not universally useful. First, Jade is only highly viable in AoE battles. Second, she must support a DPS who can also deal AoE damage. If these two requirements are fulfilled, she can easily be in the top 3 best Follow-up Attack DPS, but if not, Jade is quite underwhelming.

Due to her niche, she has to settle at the middle rank of the best FUA DPS list.

Erudition-1

In terms of damage, Moze is definitely far behind Jade, but he’s far easier to use than her. Moze doesn’t only excel at damage dealing but is also a top-tier support for Follow-up Attack DPS, making him more universal than Jade. One unique thing about Moze is that he can disappear during battle, allowing him to avoid damage and attack from the shadows. This means Trailblazers can focus more on offense and not worry about his survivability.

When it comes to Follow-up Attack inHonkai: Star Rail, Himeko is one of the OGs. She unleashes her attack after a certain number of enemies have their weakness broken, which means she’s excellent against small enemies with nonexistent Toughness. Unlike Herta’s one-time Kuru Kuru, Himeko’s mechanics also mean she can trigger her Follow-up Attack continuously, as long as the enemy keeps getting their Toughness Broken. Himeko’s mechanics also make her a worthy Super Break DPS, making her the “Firefly at home.”

Topaz wouldn’t be so high on this list if one only considers damage, but if players also consider her supportive ability, Topaz is easily one of the best Follow-up Attack units inHonkai: Star Rail. Similar to Jing Yuan, Topaz relies on her summon to deal damage, but unlike Jing Yuan’s Lightning Lord, Numby moves frequently.

Even though Numby’s attack looks more like a tickle, these tickles add up to a large DPS. However, Numby is not the only star of Topaz’s kit. Another notable part of Topaz’s skills is herProof of Debtdebuff, which causes one enemy to take 50% more Follow-up Attack damage at level 10.

Dr. Ratio was given for free, so it’s surprising that he maintains his place as a top-tier DPS inHonkai: Star Raileven many versions later. To effectively use Dr. Ratio, players must play him with debuffers.Without proper debuffing, the Intelligentsia Guild member can’t do his FUA consistently. This means characters like Topaz and Moze are especially perfect as the second DPS, while units like Robin, Aventurine, and Lingsha are the top options for his sustain and buffer.

Yunli is pretty much Clara, but remove the defensive kit and the giant robot, and add a massive multiplier. Yunli deals most of her damage when enemies hit her during her Parry state, which activates after using Ultimate. Yunli’s Ultimate needs 120 Energy to cast, but she can hold 240 Energy, meaning players can practically maintain 100% Parry uptime.

Herta

One bad thing about Yunli is that her DPS greatly drops if enemies don’t hit her, so it’s important to increase her chance of being hit by using her signature Light Cone or characters like Lynx.

Feixiao is arguably comparable to Acheron but as a single-target DPS. Like the Emanator of Nihility, Feixiao also requires a specific team to cast her Ultimate. While Acheron demands debuffers in her team, Feixiao needs teammates who can continuously hit the enemy. Of course, when it comes to hitting a foe as much as possible, Follow-up Attack characters are the best option. Although they have different mechanics, Feixiao’s best teammates are highly similar to Dr. Ratio’s, where players should consider characters like Topaz, Moze, Robin, Aventurine, and Lingsha.
