Summary
Having decent character builds is crucial when challenging the endgame modes ofHonkai: Star Rail. Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction,Apocalyptic Shadow, and even the Simulated Universe and Divergent Universe modes all demand a lot from the characters players choose to bring into battle.
While leveling characters, light cones, and traces are all important aspects of building a character inHonkai: Star Rail, it can only get players so far if the relics andplanar ornamentsleave a lot to be desired. Farming these can be quite tedious, as players will have to get through a few layers of RNG to get good substats on them, so it is important to know which ones are worth spending Trailblaze Power on.
Pan-Cosmic Commercial Enterprise
Celestial Differentiator
Effect: Increases the wearer’s Effect Hit Rate by 10%. Meanwhile, the wearer’s ATK increases by an amount that is equal to 25% of the current Effect Hit Rate, up to a maximum of 25%.
Effect: Increases the wearer’s CRIT DMG by 16%. When the wearer’s current CRIT DMG reaches 120% or higher, after entering battle, the wearer’s CRIT Rate increases by 60% until the end of their first attack.
Usable on: Black Swan, Welt, Jiaoqiu
Usable on: Any CRIT-based DPS unit, Bronya, Sparkle
While the Pan-Cosmic set is the best in slot set for both Black Swan and Welt, that is where the positives end. The reason why it works well on them is due to them needingquite a bit of Effect Hit Ratefor them to reliably debuff enemies. Since neither of them gain much ATK% from their traces, this set aims to fix that issue and effectively increases their damage. Jiaoqiu can use this set, but it’s only recommended if he’s using a light cone that doesn’t offer any Effect Hit Rate. One of his traces converts extra Effect Hit Rate into ATK%, meaning that the ATK% gained from this set is a bit redundant. That said, he should be on an Effect Hit Rate light cone to begin with.
Celestial Differentiator is arguably the worst planar ornament set inHonkai: Star Rail, as none of the characters in the game would prefer this set over any other due to its lackluster effect. The 16% CRIT DMG is nice, but it’s really not much and could easily be obtained through relic substats. What really makes this set bad is that the increase in CRIT Rate only applies to the first attack of the battle. This means that, after the first attack, this set offers nothing more than a slight increase in CRIT DMG.
Talia: Kingdom of Banditry
Sprightly Vonwacq
Effect: Increases the wearer’s Break Effect by 16%. When the wearer’s SPD reaches 145 or higher, the wearer’s Break effect increases by an extra 20%.
Effect: Increases the wearer’s Energy Regeneration Rate by 5%. When the wearer’s SPD reaches 120 or higher, the wearer’s action is Advanced Forward by 40% immediately upon entering battle.
Usable on: Trailblazer (Imaginary), Ruan Mei, Xueyi, Gallagher, Boothill, Firefly
Usable on: Robin, Jiaoqiu, Trailblazer (Imaginary), Asta, Tingyun
The Talia set can be used by any Break DPS unit as it offers quite a general effect. The only difficult part is hitting that 145 SPD. On Break supports, this set is preferred if players want to run them in different Break teams, as specific elements benefit from different sets (Specifically, the fire element, as Firefly has her own relic and planar ornament sets that benefit her and her supports). For Ruan Mei, this set can work on her, but she would prefer to be on a more general support set, as she can be used on just about any team. The only reason to use this on her is if players are struggling to hit the recommended amount of Break Effect, but it’s quite easy to hit with decent substats and the right light cones.
Sprightly Vonwacq’s extra Energy Regeneration is useful if players find that their supports are struggling to get their ultimates up in time, but the only supports that would fully benefit from using this set are Robin and Jiaoqiu. For Robin, it’s not recommended to build much speed on her, as she heavily depends on ATK. This set ensures that she goes first in battle and allows her to get her buffs up before DPS units attack. For Jiaoqiu, this set ensures he starts debuffing enemies as soon as possible to build stacks on said debuff. The extra energy regeneration also helps these two keep their ultimates up, which is an important part of both of their kits.
Belobog of the Architects
Inert Salsotto
Effect: Increases the wearer’s DEF by 15%. When the wearer’s Effect Hit Rate is 50% or higher, they gain an extra 15% DEF.
Effect: Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 8%. When the wearer’s current CRIT Rate reaches 50% or higher, Ultimate and follow-up attack DMG increases by 15%.
Usable on: Gepard, Trailblazer (Fire), Aventurine, March 7th (Preservation)
Usable on: Any FUA-based DPS unit, Misha, Argenti, Aventurine
The Belobog set seems like the go-to set for any shielder, as it offers DEF, but Gepard is the only one that can get full use out of its effects due to it requiring that 50% effect hit rate. Gepard has a chance offreezing an enemy after using his skill, which is why Effect Hit Rate is important on him. With that said, all of these characters would prefer to be on more supportive sets that buff others on the team unless players are struggling to keep the team alive. The only exception is Aventurine, who would prefer to be on Inert Salsotto, assuming that players have his light cone.
Speaking of Inert Salsotto, it’s a great set for any character who canunleash follow-up attacksor those who are heavily reliant on ultimates. On top of the free 8% Crit Rate, this full effect is extremely easy to achieve, as any Crit-based DPS would want to have over 50% Crit Rate to begin with. The reason why Aventurine would prefer this set if he has his signature light cone is simply because he isn’t able to deal much damage without it. His light cone effectively turns him into a sustain/sub-dps hybrid.
Sigonia, the Unclaimed Desolation
Izumo Gensei and Takama Divine Realm
Effect: Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 4%. When an enemy target gets defeated, the wearer’s CRIT DMG increases by 4%, stacking up to 10 time(s).
Effect: Increases the wearer’s ATK by 12%. When entering battle, if at least one other ally follows the same Path as the wearer, then the wearer’s CRIT Rate increases by 12%.
Usable on: Argenti, Herta, Himeko, Jade
Usable on: Acheron, Dr. Ratio, Feixiao
The Sigonia set isn’t bad by any means, but it’s reallyonly valuable when used in Pure Fiction. Argenti, Herta, Himeko, and Jade are all top tier DPS units in that mode, so they can make very good use of this set, as players will have to fight many waves of enemies, which makes it easy to get all 10 stacks early on. Outside of Pure Fiction, it’s extremely unlikely that there would even be 10 enemies to kill. Although useful in Pure Fiction, it’s a much better idea to save resources and farm for other sets that allow these characters to be used in other modes as well.
The Izumo set can be used on Dr. Ratio and Feixiao, but Acheron is really the only one that wants this set. While the other 2 would more than likely have another character of the same path on their teams, Acheron is the only one that needs other Nihility units to get the most out of her kit. That 12% crit rate allows players to focus on other stats more when building her. Dr. Ratio and Feixiao have a better set that buffs the mechanic they focus on.
Space Sealing Station
Fleet of the Ageless
Effect: Increases the wearer’s ATK by 12%. When the wearer’s SPD reaches 120 or higher, the wearer’s ATK increases by an extra 12%.
Effect: Increases the wearer’s Max HP by 12%. When the wearer’s SPD reaches 120 or higher, all allies' ATK increases by 8%.
Usable on: any non-Break DPS unit (Except Blade)
Usable on: Any Support and Sustain
Space Sealing Station offers a simple ATK buff and the requirement for the full buffs is quite easy to hit as well. It’s rarely the best option, but it is efficient to farm for, as many characters can use it. This set is not recommended if players are running a hypercarry team, as the DPS units on those teams would often have low speed and rely on Sparkle or Bronya to action advance them forward. Break DPS units would prefer Break Effect more than ATK, and Blade scales off of HP rather than ATK.
Similar to Space Sealing Station, the Fleet set offers a general buff that can be used by any support or sustain unit in the game. Although Abundance units (and Fu Xuan) benefit the most from this set as they scale off of HP, the extra 8% ATK is useful to DPS units even if the 12% HP increase is wasted. Yet again, it is rarely the best option (for non-HP scalers), but it could still be useful.
Lushaka, the Sunken Seas
The Wondrous BananAmusement Park
Effect: Increases the wearer’s Energy Regeneration Rate by 5%. If the wearer is not the first character in the team lineup, then increase the ATK of the first character in the team lineup by 12%.
Effect: Increases the wearer’s CRIT DMG by 16%. When a target summoned by the wearer is on the field, CRIT DMG additionally increases by 32%.
Usable on: Sparkle, Bronya
Usable on: Jing Yuan, Topaz
As of Version 2.5, these two are the most recent planar ornament sets added to the game. The Lushaka set can be used on any support, butit heavily benefits from hypercarry teams, as there would only be one DPS unit on those teams. Sparkle and Bronya are the most used supports in hypercarry teams, so they would naturally be able to get the most out of this set. The extra Energy Regeneration also helps with their ultimate uptime.
The Wondrous BananAmusement Park is currently a very underutilized set, as only 3 characters are able to summon targets, with one of them being a sustain for Break teams who would much prefer to be on another set. Jing Yuan and Topaz are both great FUA-based DPS units who can make use of this set, as it is essentially a free 48% CRIT DMG increase. The only problem is that there is an overabundance of CRIT DMG sources on both of their teams, making this set redundant. However, HoYoverse has been hinting at a summon meta, so this set will definitely be one to look out for in the near future.
Firmament Frontline: Glamoth
Penacony, Land of the Dreams
Effect: Increases the wearer’s ATK by 12%. When the wearer’s SPD is equal to or higher than 135/160, they deals 12%/18% more DMG.
Effect: Increases wearer’s Energy Regeneration Rate by 5%. Increases DMG for all other allies with the same DMG Type as the wearer by 10%.
Usable on: Kafka, Black Swan, Luka, Serval, Sampo, Guinaifen, Seele
Usable on: Silver Wolf, Yukong
The Glamoth set can be used on any DPS unit, with the only downside being that said DPS units will have to be built with high SPD, lowering the effectiveness of hypercarry teams. Characters who want a lot of SPD or are able to naturally gain a lot of SPD benefit the most from this set. In most situations, this set is best in slot for DoT units, as it works with their high SPD requirement while offering a DMG increase. On the other hand, a DPS like seele can naturally gain SPD through her kit, making this set a pretty good option for her while also having other options as well. It’s not the best in slot for most characters, but it can still perform well if players get good substats on this set.
The Penacony set is a strange one, as it requires players to run 2 characters of the same element on the team. This set can be used by any support in theory (and can perform well), but it isn’t going to be the best in slot. Due to the element requirement, using this set means that players will be locking said support on a specific team unless they are willing to farm for 2 different sets for one character. With that said, Silver Wolf and Yukong can make good use of this set when run in a mono-Quantum team and a hypercarry Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae team, respectively.
Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves
Forge of the Kalpagni Lantern
Effect: When allies use follow-up attacks, the wearer receives 1 stack of Merit, stacking up to 5 times. Every stack of Merit increases the DMG dealt by the wearer’s follow-up attacks by 5%. When there are 5 stacks, additionally increases the wearer’s CRIT DMG by 25%.
Effect: Increase the wearer’s SPD by 6%. When the wearer hits enemy targets with Fire Weakness, the Break Effect increases by 40%, lasting for 1 turn(s).
Usable on: any FUA-based DPS unit (except Jing Yuan)
Usable on: Firefly, Gallagher, Lingsha, Trailblazer (Imaginary)
Assuming that players were using Inert Salsotto on their FUA units, the Duran set is an upgrade in every way for every FUA-based DPS with the exception of Jing Yuan. The reason for this set being an upgrade over Inert Salsotto is that it offers 10% more damage on top of the 25% increase in CRIT DMG. Jing Yuan can’t utilize this set as well as the other FUA units due to his follow-up attack being very slow (although it does hit hard). It’ll take a while for him to reach max stacks, so other sets would suit him better.
Forge of the Kalpagni Lantern is a set that was tailor-made for Firefly as she is a Break DPS with the ability toimplant Fire weakness into enemies. Naturally, her supports and sustains also benefit from this, which allows them to use this set even if they’re not of the Fire element themselves. However, using this set on non-Fire elemental characters (like the Trailblazer) does mean that they will be somewhat locked into specific teams or specific battles.
Rutilant Arena
Broken Keel
Effect: Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 8%. When the wearer’s current CRIT Rate reaches 70% or higher, the wearer’s Basic ATK and Skill DMG increase by 20%.
Effect: Increases the wearer’s Effect RES by 10%. When the wearer’s Effect RES is at 30% or higher, all allies' CRIT DMG increases by 10%.
Usable on: Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae, Jingliu, Blade, Seele, Qingque, March 7th (Hunt)
Usable on: Any support and sustain unit run with a CRIT-based DPS unit
Rutilant Arena is by far the best in slot for any character that focuses on Basic ATKs and characters who can spam their skill (Seele being the perfect example due to her Talent). However, this set isnot recommended for newer players, as hitting that 70% CRIT Rate will be difficult when resources are extremely limited. Generally, CRIT-based DPS units would want over 70% CRIT Rate anyway, but it’s definitely not as easily achievable as some of the other sets' requirements.
Broken Keel is the most universal support set inHonkai: Star Rail. While it doesn’t offer much to Break and DoT teams, this set being good on any support run in any other team is what gives it value. It’s best in slot for many of the supports and sustains. Although it requires characters to be built witha bit of Effect RES, it’s generally a good idea to have some Effect RES on supports and sustains anyway, to ensure they don’t miss opportunities to buff or protect allies. Even on characters where this isn’t the best in slot, this set isn’t far behind (unless they’re used in Break and DoT teams).
