As with any first-person shooter, the available weapons inBlack Ops 6are one of the most anticipated features, each offering a unique and distinct feel.
The sniper rifle category is one of the more niche weapon categories in theCall of Dutyfranchise. Despite not being the most used, sniper rifles have an iconic and historical place in the franchise, often proving to be the deadliest weapons when in the hands of proficient snipers. Be they used as a fast-paced, quick-scoping weapon or a more traditional long-ranged rifle, snipers will always have their fan base among theCall of Dutycommunity. Despite only having 4 sniper rifles,Black Ops 6offers a unique and distinct array of snipers, each likely to cater to a different type of sniper rifle user.
Updated July 18, 2025 by Morgan Walklate:Black Ops 6 has now seen the release of Season One and the subsequent mid-season update, Season One Reloaded. This update introduced a new zombies map called Citadelle des Morts, as well as a series of new weapons such as the Krig-C and Maelstrom.
This update has since been followed by a Festive event wherein players can earn a series of rewards. One of these rewards is the brand-new semi-automatic sniper rifle, the AMR Mod 4. As such, players should be aware of how the AMR Mod 4 compares to the other sniper rifles in Black Ops 6.

The SVD stands out among theBlack Ops 6lineup as the only sniper rifle that isn’t bolt-action. Instead, the SVD is semi-automatic, akin to a marksman rifle, but still offers damage numbers similar to those of its bolt-action counterparts. It is unlocked relatively early on inthe leveling path, given the low experience required per level, up until level 30. It has a larger-than-average magazine capacity and an average aim-down sight speed, with a best-in-class fire rate (given its semi-automatic nature).
Sniper rifles in Black Ops 6 areconsiderably more unwieldy when compared to previous titles, including a generally slower aim-down sight speed, and notable sway when aiming down the sights, making centering quite difficult. This, coupled with the flinch received when players are shot at while scoped, makes sniper rifles a difficult weapon class to use. With all that said, the SVD exasperates these issues due to its semi-automatic nature, including far more recoil and slow recoil reset time, making accuracy very difficult. The damage, while high when in range, often becomes inconsistent at longer ranges and makes quick kills difficult.

The LW3A1 Frostlineis inspired by the real-life L115, featured in theCall of Dutyseries as early as the L96A1 in the firstBlack Opsgame. In that game, however, the counterpart to the Frostline was incredibly damaging, unlike the Frostline itself. Instead, the Frostline is a faster-firing, easier-handled bolt-action sniper rifle that deals less damage but is quicker overall. Players unlock the LW3A1 Frostline by default, allowing plenty of time to level up the weapon.
The LW3A1 Frostline excels as a faster sniper, dealing less damage overall but boasting a fast fire rate when compared to its bolt action counterpart, and a faster ADS (aim down sight) speed. It is a one-shot kill to the torso but has some damage fall-off at range, making it somewhat inconsistent. It excels especially when built even more so for speed, utilizing the rapid-fire ammo attachment, alongside a laser to eliminate the initial ADS sway.
What the Frostline lacks in damage, it makes up for in speed and handling, making it far more deadly in the hands of a quick-scoper who aims to engage up close with sniper rifles. The major downside to the Frostline is its lack of accuracy and its damage drop-off, meaning it is not as solid as the LR 7.62 when engaging at range, forcing players into a more aggressive playstyle.

The LR 7.62 sniper riflesuffers slightly from its later unlock, meaning players have less time to level it up should they make the choice to prestige and use their unlock token on something else. That being said, players can earn the Onyx Echo blueprint for the LR 7.62 early on in the campaign, as a reward for completing the missions “Hunting Season” and “The Cradle.” This blueprint will permanently unlock the LR 7.62, meaning it is far more accessible than it initially seems. The LR 7.62 has higher damage at range but suffers from a slower base ADS speed and fire rate.
Despite the shortcomings of the base variation of the LR 7.62, it certainly has a higher ceiling of potential, due in part to its high base damage. This, when coupled with attachments, makes the LR 7.62 the most consistent and deadly sniper rifle inBlack Ops 6.
In order to increase the rate of fire, players can use the rapid-fire bolt attachment, coupling this with the heavy stock in order to reduce flinch and a tactical laser to eliminate the initial aim-down sight sway. Then, players can utilize attachments like the quick draw grip and precision barrel in order to further increase both accuracy and speed.
When built well, especially whenutilizing the gunfighter wildcard, which allows for 8 attachments, the LR 7.62 is by far the best sniper rifle inBlack Ops 6. It will excel when used as a traditional sniper at range, as well as when it is in the hands of a quick-scoper who intends to engage in combat up close.

The AMR Mod 4 is the most recent sniper rifle inBlack Ops 6. It is based upon the real-life Barret M82, a gun that has featured in many previousCall of Dutytitles under different names. Players can unlock this weapon as a part of the Season One Reloaded Christmas event entitled Archie’s Festival Frenzy. Players must earn Jolly Archies by gaining kills in Multiplayer and Zombies, or through opening caches in Warzone. After gaining enough Archies to unlock 12 rewards from the event, players are given the AMR Mod 4.
The AMR Mod 4 is a semi-automatic sniper rifle that benefits from all the positive elements of other semi-automatic rifles like the SVD but has none of its downsides. It is incredibly potent, often hitting one-shot kills from ranges and in body parts that only bolt-action weapons would. This, coupled with its fire rate, makes even the base AMR Mod 4 an incredibly powerful weapon. Its power, however, increases further when players equip it for faster handling and aim-down sight speed. When built with these aspects in mind, the AMR Mod 4 is by far the most powerful sniper rifle inBlack Ops 6.
