Wizard of Legend 2is a roguelike action game where 1–4 players participate in the Trials of Legend. Using a wide assortment of elemental spells (known as Arcana), you’ll have to overcome countless enemies and come up with powerful spell combinations to pass the Trials and become the Wizard of Legend.

When you first startWizard of Legend 2, you’ll be given the choice of five different Elements. This will determine your initial set of Arcana and your first Relic, though naturally, you can unlock all the other options later on with enough time and effort. This guide will examine the five starting options, break down their effects and utility, and suggest which ones will serve new players the best based on the playstyle that element offers.

Wizard of Legend 2_Fire

Fire

Choosing Fire as your element at the beginning of the game gives you the Fireball Basic Arcana, the Flame Breath Signature Arcana, and the Flying Kicks Standard Arcana. This setup is built around mid-range combat, using Fireball to hit enemies at any range, Flame Breath to clear out crowds and leave the survivors burning (taking damage over time for a while), and Flying Kicks to deal some damage while retreating out of melee range.

This is a very easy setup to use and is very reliable at dishing out damage. It is further supplemented by the Starting Relic “Ifrit’s Matchstick”, which gives all of your Fire Arcana 15% more damage. The Fire starting loadout specializes in mid-range damage and has attacks that are effective against single targets or larger groups, making it a great all-rounder choicewhen beginning the game.

Wizard of Legend 2_Water

Water

If you choose Water at the start of the game, you’ll receive Bending Torrent as your Basic Arcana, Ice Blast as your Signature Arcana, and Dragon Arcs as your Standard Arcana. Bending Torrent is an unusual projectile, lashing out in wide arcs and redirecting to find more targets if you hit the button again while it’s still active. With a bit of practice, this can be used against large groups to great effect.

Ice Blast is a freezing cone that prevents enemies from moving for a short while (or until they get hit), making it perfect for creating breathing room and lining up enemies for your other attacks. Dragon Arcs launches a line of fire dragons in the direction you’re facing and has excellent range, making it ideal for picking off enemies at a distance or dishing out a ton of damage to a frozen foe.

Wizard of Legend_Earth

Choosing the Water element also provides you with the Starting Relic “Shiva’s Water Bottle”, increasing all Water Arcana damage by 15%.The Water Element starting loadoutis excellent at dishing out damage to groups of foes, while using Ice Blast to lock down troublesome targets and line up your damaging combos. Once you get the hang of Bending Torrent’s unconventional movement, this setup can be exceptional.

Earth

Choosing the Earth Element gives you an excellent but slow melee setup, with Earth Knuckles as your Basic Arcana, Stonestrike Kick as your Signature Arcana, and Lightning Spear as a Standard Arcana. Earth Knuckles is a slow but strong melee attack that can deal a lot of damage and easily hit multiple targets due to the sheer size of your earth fists.

Stonestrike Kick is another melee strike that moves you forward and knocks enemies back while inflicting fracture. Fracture causes afflicted enemies to take damage whenever they move, willingly or by force. Finally, Lightning Spear is a stunningly strong ranged attack that knocks enemies airborne while also inflicting shock. Shock prevents the enemy from taking actions while inflicting lightning damage periodically, and enemies knocked airborne will stay helpless in the air as long as you keep hitting them with attacks.

Wizard of Legend 2_Air

Choosing the Earth Element also gives you the Relic “Gaia’s Shovel”, increasing your Earth Damage by 15%. Earth’s starting loadout is focused on stunning enemies, shoving them around, and delivering crushing melee strikes. This makes it a great beginner’s choice if you want a melee build when starting out.

Air

When you pick the Air Element, you’ll begin the game with Aeromancer’s Grasp, Zephyr Whirl, and Terra Ring. The Air Element starting Arcana are all melee Arcana, making it the perfect choice for getting up close and personal with your enemies. Aeromancer’s Grasp is a Basic Arcana that unleashes a wind-infused punch combo and will dash you towards the enemy you’re facing if you’re within a certain distance, making it perfect for initiating combat and getting in close.

Once you’re in the thick of it, Zephyr Whirl allows you to create a brief whirlwind that pulls enemies toward you and inflicts slow, bringing them to you right in time to use Terra Ring. Terra Ring is a Standard Arcana that creates a ring of earth spikes around you, spreading outward and dealing damage to every enemy they hit,

Wizard of Legend_Lightning

Choosing Air will also give you the Relic “Rudra’s Pinwheel”, increasing all Air Damage you deal by 15%. As mentioned earlier, the initial Air Element loadout specializes in Melee Arcana, working best when you stay on the move, dashing into and out of danger and pulling enemies in to unleash your heavier attacks. While a little tricky to get the hang of, this loadout can be very satisfying once you get the combos down.

Lightning

Choosing Lightning as your Elementequips you with Bolt Rail, Volt Surge, and Blizzard. Bolt Rail is a channeled Basic Arcana that deals lightning damage in a line in front of you, allowing it to hit multiple targets at once with some good positioning. To help you line them up, Volt Surge is a Signature Arcana that bounces a lightning bolt between multiple targets while inflicting shock, which prevents afflicted enemies from taking any action and periodically deals more lightning damage to them.

While Volt Surge’s shock effect doesn’t last very long, it’s more than enough time to line up Bolt Rail or conjure up Blizzard’s AOE on top of your helpless foes. Blizzard creates a circle of falling ice to deal damage to all enemies in its Area of Effect.

By choosing Lightning you’ll also receive the Battery of Tanaris Relic, raising all lightning damage dealt by 15%. The Lightning Element starting loadout is focused on stunning and damaging groups of foes, making it fantastic for dealing with large groups of enemies as you traverse the Trials, though it requires players to pay extra attention to their positioning to get the most out of it.
