The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdomtakes place in Hyrule wherein the story opens with Link about to defeat Ganon again. Before they can finish their fight, a portal opens up and starts to swallow all of Hyrule. In a last-ditch effort, Link saves Zelda from her imprisoned crystal, and she takes on the mantle of the new hero in the game.
Zelda is not alone in this solo journey, though, because she meets a magical fairy named Tri who presents her with the Tri Rod. Despite thetop-down classicZeldapresentation,The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdomis a huge open-world adventure. It can be hard to know what to do first, so here are some suggestions.
6Getting Your First Heart Pieces
Upgrade Zelda’s Health Quickly
Like otherZeldagames, players can raise Zelda’s health by finding fourHeart Pieces inThe Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. The first four are conveniently placed within her path before the first dungeon. On the beach where Zelda arrives after escaping Hyrule, there is a Heart Piece right before the cave exit on the far right side of the beach.
Inside this cave, players can see a Heart Piece blocked by some boxes. In the next village over, Suthorn Village, players can buy a Heart Piece for 80 Rupees. If players needRupees inThe Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, they should wander around the village a bit before moving on. Finally, the last Heart Piece can be obtained in the second cave east of Suthorn Village.
5Getting Fairy Bottles
Give Zelda A Second Chance At Life
Bottles are one of the biggest staple items in theZeldaseries. Players can typically use them to catch fairies and bugs or fill them with potions. InThe Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Bottles are mainly used for catching fairies. If players have an empty Fairy Bottle, as they are called inEchoes of Wisdom, and they touch a fairy, that fairy will automatically be captured. Those new to the series may not know faeries resurrect players automatically upon death.
The first Fairy Bottle can be found in the first cave east of Suthorn Village, while the next can be found north in Kakariko Village. Here, players will meet a woman who will start them on anEchoes of Wisdomquest called “Cuccos on the Loose.“After finding her precious Cuccos in town, the hardest of which is on a windmill, she will bestow players with a Fairy Bottle.
4Other Good Ways To Heal
The Way To Zelda’s Heart Are Smoothies
There are other good ways to heal inEchoes of Wisdombesides catching fairies. One of the first healing items players will find is a bed that they can make an Echo out of in the Hyrule Castle dungeon. Sleeping in it will recover half of a heart every few seconds.
There is a better bed in the Gerudo Desert oasis, located in the Northeast corner, called the Soft-Bed, which will heal one full heart every few seconds.
However, the best way to heal inEchoes of Wisdomis through Smoothies. Players can blend food items to craft potions by using two Refreshing Grapes. Business Scrubs, the Smoothie operators, can be found all over Hyrule from this oasis to Kakariko Village, and they can help startan earlyThe Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdomside quest called “Recipes, Please!”
3Don’t Miss These Monsters
From The Stoic Sea Urchin To The Top-Heavy Peahat
Players cannot directly attack monsters all the time inThe Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. They can pick up rocks, craft Echoes of objects to throw, or occasionally use the powerful Swordfighter form. The best way, though, is to control monsters with Echoes. Some of the best early ones will be directly in Zelda’s path.
For example, the Sea Urchin on the beach is good for building defenses around Zelda. Ignizol can create fire, and they are in the same cave as the Fairy Bottle near Suthorn Village. There’s a third cave east of Suthorn Village too, which has a massive mini-boss in it, a Peahat, which will fall easily if players have Ignizol since it is a plant-based monster.
The overall basic tip is to fight every monster to capture their Echo.
2Energizing Your Swordfighter Form
Time To Collect Might Crystals
The aforementionedSwordfighter form inThe Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdomwill be awarded during the first dungeon in the Suthorn region. Players can use Link’s sword temporarily as long as their corresponding meter is charged. Nearby, there is an engineer named Lueburry who will upgrade the sword’s attack and energy levels.
To do this, players need to find materials called Might Crystals which are hidden all overEchoes of Wisdomfrom quests to underneath rocks. Players just need to be diligent about exploring Hyrule. The energy level should be the first upgrade followed by the attack level.
1Gear Zelda Up With Accessories
Find The Great Fairy
InThe Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, players can find or buy accessoriesto give Zelda a certain trait. For example, in one of the early caves players can find the Heart Appearance Up pin, which will make hearts appear more in grass or once monsters are defeated. At first, players can only equip one accessory at a time, which is limiting.
However, once that first dungeon in the Suthorn region is cleared, players should make a beeline north and go directly above the dungeon to a big lake. There is a larger island where players can meet the Great Fairy here. For a price, players can expand the amount of accessories they can equip. They can equip two for 100 Rupees, three for 300 Rupees, and so on.
