Summary
With the announcement thatBlack MirrorSeason 7 is officially on the way, it looks like the Netflix series is continuing a tradition it’s made most famous since becoming a Netflix original. While still offering up stories about the dark side of technology, the most recent versions of the show have also featured many well-known actors. And judging by the names that are slated for Season 7, it looks like this installment will be the most star-studded yet. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing is anyone’s guess. There are some who believe the show has started to decline in quality and that the showrunners are covering holes in the stories with big-name actors.
On the other hand, some of the show’s well-known actors have managed to produce some of the bestBlack Mirrorepisodes. Jon Hamm’s appearance in the Season 2 episode, “White Christmas” is one of the best of any season thanks to him being a charismatic grifter who eventuallyfinds an unhappy end. Obviously having a big name cast isn’t always a negative and the biggest names in this cast have certainly proven themselves to be worthy actors.
Who Are The Biggest Names In Black Mirror Season 7?
As is usually the case, there are the names of people television and movie audiences have seen before and there are names that stand out from the crowd as household names either thanks to their work in film, or television or both. Some of the biggest names announced as being inthis season ofBlack Mirrorinclude:
There are quite a few veterans of the science fiction world in this first list. Peter Capaldi stands out from this group thanks to his run as anolder and more grumpy,Doctor Who. Emma Corin didn’t do a ton of sci-fi work before he appearance inDeadpool and Wolverine, but she more than made up for her lack of background by taking on therole of Cassandra Nova, the sister of Charles Xavier and ruler of The Void.
Rashida Jones recently appeared in another show that tackles the oddities of science fiction, though doesn’t go nearly as dark asBlack MirrorinSunny. And then stars like Awkwafina and Chris O’Dowd have managed to star inscience-fiction adjacent superhero filmslikeThor: The Dark WorldandShang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
There are plenty of other names on the major cast that might be more faces that audiences recognize but can’t quite place.

Successionfans might be most fired up to see what kind of role Walter - who played theyounger Roy siblings’ motherin the Max series - will take on Black Mirror. Will she have the same sort of self-centered rich Eurotrash she portrayed so perfectly, or take on a personality completely different from that?
Will More Stars Join Black Mirror Season 7?
While Netflix’s release has animpressive number of well known actorson it, it’s worth asking if the streaming service might be keeping another announcement under wraps until closer to Season 7 launching. After all, at least two stars already have appearances inBlack Mirroron their resume.
While the series has not said what roles most of the cast will have in Season 7, Netflix has previously mentioned that a follow up to thevery popular episode“USS Callister” is part of this installment. Both Cristin Milioti and Jimmi Simpson were crew members in that episode which depicted the AI duplicates of people’s personalities being trappedStar Trek-like world where they constantly have to go on missions to fight aliens at the developer of this particular virtual reality software is a sort of vengeful god.
As of now, the list of stars for the show is being touted as complete by Netflix.
As of now, no other members of the cast of “USS Callister” are listed as being part of Black Mirror Season 7. However, it seems like there’s a better-than-average chance that Jesse Plemons, the villain of the episode who was eventually left trapped in his VR world, will make a return.
That seems like the kind of thing that Netflix might keep under wraps until it draws closer to launch day. It’s also possible that Plemons’ wife, Kirten Dunst could make an appearance as she had a very small role in USS Callister. Beyond that, it seems unlikely there will be too many other big name actors involved in the show with such a long list having already been released forBlack MirrorSeason 7.
