Wildcards inBlack Ops 6furthers the experimental style of crafting the perfect loadout by allowing players to bring in an additional advantage to the way in which they play, much like an extra perk with its own bells and whistles. With 6 Wildcards inBlack Ops 6, playersmight want to knowwhat all of them do, and how they can benefit from using them.
Every Wildcard inBlack Ops 6does have its own use, but some are clearly better than others. Whether it’s players who can’t get enough of equipment, or those who just love running around with more guns and attachments, Wildcards are a great bonus to any deck that every player should utilize.
Updated on July 16, 2025, by Jake Fillery:With an ever-evolving meta, it’s important to stay on top of the competition and select the best Wildcard in Black Ops 6 that will make it all the easier to keep up that k/d and win ratio. There are still only 6 Wildcards in Black Ops 6, but all of them can serve as an advantageous bonus to each player’s loadout, depending on the map and game mode that they decide to jump into.
6Prepper
Bring Two Different Field Upgrades
Field Upgrades can act as an exciting addition, but they take some time to charge to use. Most players in a game of Team Deathmatch might not even see their Field Upgrade in-use, and for others, they are rather situational. For instance, a Trophy System is great for close-range maps like Nuketown where grenades are flying overhead, but throwing one down in a larger map isn’t going to be as significant.
While there is a great assortment of Field Upgrades, not all of them are as great as they could be, and this Wildcard represents that by only being majorly effective in long-lasting games where players can actually find the time and the score to use two different Field Upgrades to have a more varied loadout.
5Danger Close
Spawn With Two Pieces of Lethal Equipment
Much like Tactical Expert, Danger Close will allow players to run in with more equipment, but this time, it’s an extra lethal to provide players with 2 grenades. This means players can jump into the fight with 2 explosives of their choice, but in the meta ofBlack Ops 6, a grenade isn’t going tosave a lifeor win the game, especially with how fast the combat can be in close-range maps.
Danger Close is fine for players who like their explosives, but it’s really not something to invest heavily in, especially when the alternative Wildcards offer so much morevariety of playstylethan just throwing an extra grenade to spam explosives off of spawn in maps like Nuketown.
4Tactical Expert
Spawn With Two Pieces of Tactical Equipment
Tactical Equipment isn’t exactly the be-all and end-all ofBlack Ops 6’s combat methods, and having a supply of Tactical Equipment won’t win the fight, especially when the only way to get more after using them is to wait for a slow recharge or die again. There aren’tmany encounterswhere one would benefit from a Tactical Expert Wildcard outside of Search & Destroy and other objective-based matches where a Flash Grenade might be the savior of the day.
It’s not a bad Wildcard, but there are superior options. This is a Wildcard that is best reserved for players who like to think in a situational setting, where an extra Stim Shot or a Flash Grenade could be just what they need to infiltrate, destroy, and survive for the next combat encounter.
3Overkill
Have any Gun in the Primary and Secondary Slots
Sometimes, one gun just isn’t enough, and a Secondary that acts as a Pistol just won’t get the job done for players who want to run around like psychotic killers seeking out targets with an extra Shotgun, or an SMG, or perhaps even the more versatile loadout of a Shotgun and a Sniper to better maximize their efficiency at every range of gunfight.
To do that, players are going to want the Overkill Wildcard, which allows players to equip a non-melee weapon in Primary and Secondary slots. Doing so will see grand advantages to the way players fight, as they don’t have to swap out to a pistol, but instead a one-shot Shotgun, or more.
2Perk Greed
An extra Perk can go a long way, especially inBlack Ops 6Multiplayer when there is a varied selection available across three categories. Those who equip Perk Greed will be able to embrace one of the deadly sins by greedily taking yet another Perk of their choice, and it can be any Perk from the 3 available slots, permitting them to take a fourth one of their choosing.
An extra Perk is always a nice addition to anyone’s deck, especially if their playstyle relies on more tactical approaches or ones that can play aggressively. Perk Greed will allow players to take a Combat Specialty of their choice and still have roomfor an extra Perk. For instance, they could run an Enforcer Combat Speciality but have Cold-Blooded attached to make themselves immune to AI-scorestreaks.
1Gunfighter
Use 3 Extra Attachments on Primary Weapons
There’s nothing wrong with being a little greedy when it comes to crafting weapons at the Gunsmith. Some players might want thebest loadout possibleinBlack Ops 6, and that is exactly where Gunfighter might aid the player.
The Gunsmith only allows 5 attachments per weapon, so the Gunfighter Wildcard will allow a whopping 3 extra attachments for the Primary weapon, bringing the total up to a stellar 8. This can range from new grips, sights, and fire mods, providing a great way to fight instead of getting locked out for further weapon upgrades that result in some of the best weapons inBlack Ops 6.
