Marvel Studios’BladeMCUreboot was announced at San Diego Com-Con 2019, with Ali joining Kevin Feige on stage to announce he will play the titular vampire hunter. However, theBladeMCU release date has been delayedseveral times since it was first announced, recently being postponed indefinitely after losing its November 2025 slot toPredator: Badlands. Rumors suggested theBladeMCU reboot might be saved until after the Multiverse Saga, and some fans worried it could be canceled. Fortunately, a reputable scooper provided an encouraging update on how Marvel Studios plans to move forward with the troubled movie.
Daniel Richtmanclaims theBladeMCU reboot will start filming in the United Kingdom in 2025, although a precise date or timeframe did not appear to be mentioned. According to Richtman, Marvel Studios’Bladewill have a smaller budget and be “very dark.” Marvel Studios is also reportedly working on a new script, though whether or not writer Eric Pearson–who was most recently attached to write the screenplay–is still on board wasn’t divulged.
Many fans were not phased by Richtman’s report. After so many delays, several fans adopted a ‘believe when I see it’ attitude towards the latestBladeupdate. “I won’t believe Blade is happening until my ass is in the theater watching it. ‘There’s only ever gonna be one Blade,'” wrote Reddit user @NotTaken-username, referring to the line spoken by Wesley Snipes’ Blade during hisDeadpool and Wolverinecameo. “I only believe Blade is coming out when we get a trailer for the film, wrote @Patrick2701. Needless to say, fans don’t seem ready to get their hopes up yet.
IfBlade’s 2025 filming plan is accurate, that still leaves the question of when it will be released in theaters. Marvel Studios has three untitled movies scheduled for February 18, May 5, and July 20, 2025. While discussing the delay with John Rocha (who allegedly heardAli was happy with theBladerelease date delay), Jeff Sneider said he did not believe fans would have to wait until 2028 to see the film. It’s possibleBladecould land on a yet-to-be-claimed release date before 2028, but this is purely speculative.
Regardless, Marvel Studios is seemingly still committed to producingBladewith Ali attached as the lead actor.Mia Goth is reportedly still attachedto play the villain Lilith, but the film has already lost some actors due to the production schedule changes. How the new schedule affects the cast is still unclear, but perhaps fans can take comfort in knowing Marvel Studios is trying to get the script right before moving into production. Then again, years of delays and fine-tuning may set expectations forBladeunbelievably high.
