Summary

Bosch: Legacyseason 3 will be released onPrime Videochannel, Freevee, in March 2025, but, sadly, it’ll be the final run and an abrupt end for the show. Fans were shocked by the news as the Bosch-verse appeared to be expanding exponentially with the upcoming Renee Ballard spin-off. However, this doesn’t mean it has to be the end of the road for Harry Bosch.A petition has been launched to ‘SaveBosch: Legacy’and give the creative team a proper chance to end the show on their own terms, and the power is in the hands of the fans to achieve this goal.

The originalBoschseries launched on Prime Video way back in 2014 when the streamer was still in its infancy. The pilot episode was released, and fans raved about it, and this led to a full series being commissioned. After seven outstanding seasons, it came to an end. However, the popularity of the show led to a petition to save it, and it was successful, leading to a spin-off series,Bosch: Legacyon Freevee. After two great seasons, a third was given the go ahead. However, the announcement that this upcoming season will be the last one has put fans in the position of needing to save the show once again!

A Campaign Has Been Launched To ‘Save Bosch: Legacy’ And It Needs The Fans To Help Change Amazon’s Decision

Harry Bosch has been part of the fabric of television for over a decade now, and fans still love him as much as they always have. And this is whythe fans have launched a petition to saveBosch: Legacy. It’s clear thatthe end ofBosch: Legacywasn’t a creative decision, with so many more stories still left to tell in Harry Bosch’s world. The fans have saved the show, not once, but twice before, and they can do it again, but like everything in this world, ‘it takes a village’.Fans can sign the petition here:‘SaveBosch: Legacy- Finish The Story Right’.

It has garnered over 2000 signatures since it launched last month.

The petition is aiming for 15,000 signatures, but realistically, it’s going to take a LOT more to convince Amazon to do a U-turn.The Bosch-verse has a huge audience, but they need to speak up. ‘Knock on doors’ as Harry Bosch would say. In this case, that door is the executives at Amazon. The petition was started by dedicated Bosch super-fan, Clare Costa, and she has an excellent team of campaign members behind her: Mike Martini, Merle Gornick, Valerie Leung, Denise Sanchez, Terry Matthews and Osokwe Vasquez. They are all passionate aboutBosch: Legacy, and they want to save it from an abrupt end.

The homepage for the petition posted the following rallying cry to fellowBosch: Legacyfans:

Harry Bosch

After two seasons on Freevee, the third season was delayed due to the Writer’s and Artist’s Strike and Amazon recently announced it would be broadcast in March 2025. However, they also announced it would be the FINAL SEASON!

This is NOT how we, the fans, or the cast and crew wanted this series to end. Bosch has countless dedicated fans worldwide, and we deserve our favorite show to have a proper ending!! This is where you come in.

Modern day television is all about creating expanded universes, in order to tell multi-faceted stories. It worked so well with theMarvel Cinematic Universe, and television execs took notice and adapted this formula for the small screen. A lot of shows are doing it, with the results being a mixed bag of good, bad and, frankly, awful. However, fans were excited to hear thatBosch: Legacywas expanding its universe to include the character ofRenee Ballardin a spin-off, to act as a one-two punch with the parent show. The possibilities were endless, with Michael Connelly creating such a rich and textured world with his book series, which acts as a blueprint for theBoschtelevision universe. So why isBosch: Legacyending when things are just getting started? Amazon are trying to pass it off as a handover to the Ballard series. This is not a passing of the torch, it’s a cancelation, and any suggestion that it’s anything other than that is a bare-faced lie.

It’s baffling that Amazon are so keen to cancel a show that still rakes in good viewing figures and has an army of loyal fans. The PR team clearly went into overdrive and tried to convince the fans that this was all part of the plan.It was surprising that some sections of the fan base seemed to accept it, like it was somewhat by design that Harry Bosch would take a backseat in his own universe. There was an emotional but upbeat response tothe end ofBosch: Legacyby Michael Connelly andTitus Welliver. However, they really didn’t have much choice due to their continued association with Amazon on the Ballard series. It looks like a case of putting on a brave face and speaking positively about the future, but surely, neither Connelly nor Welliver wantedBosch: Legacyto make way for Ballard.

Titus Welliver appeared onThe Sackhoff Showpodcast, which was filmed prior to the announcement thatBosch: Legacywas coming to an end, and it was very clear that he was hoping to play Harry Bosch in season 4 and beyond.

God willing and Amazon, we’ll be going back to Bosch in January.

Titus Welliver has stated on numerous occasions thathe would play Bosch for as long as they wanted him. It’s a small consolation, but he will appear in the Ballard spin-off, albeit only in three episodes of the first season, and who knows what role he’ll have in any potential future seasons?Bosch: Legacyseason 3 is going to be great, but it wasn’t planned to be the end of the story, so it’ll likely leave fans with a very disjointed feeling.

In a time whenHollywood is still reeling from the after effects of the strikes, the cancelation ofBosch: Legacyis a gut punch to the many people who rely on this show to sustain themselves and their families. Productions are moving away from Los Angeles at a worryingly rapid pace, raising a lot of questions about the future of the industry as a whole. Even ifBosch: Legacywas given a two-part movie to wrap up the story, it would be better than nothing. A shortened season to bring things to a more satisfying conclusion is another option. So many shows have been given the chance to wrap things up with either a movie or a shortened final season, so why doesn’t Amazon see value in something like that forBosch: Legacy? It makes the fans think, is there something else at play here?

Ideally,Bosch: Legacywould run for another 10 seasons, to flesh out all the amazing stories that have been set up.The ‘SaveBosch: Legacy’ petition does not suggest that Amazon needs to renew the show indefinitely. However, the opportunity to complete the story, rather than having to settle for an abrupt ending after three seasons, would be nice. The originalBoschseries was Amazon’s flagship show, and it helped put them on the map in the streaming world. The cast, writers, production crew and the fans deserve so much more. It’s all about creating a movement, having a voice and standing up to what appears to be an ‘algorithm’ making all the key decisions.
