10Carl

Versatile At Range, But Vulnerable Up Close

Carl throws his boomerang pickaxe, which pierces enemies and returns to him upon hitting a wall or reaching its maximum range, damaging enemies on the way and way back.Hitting an enemy twice deals high damage, but it isn’t easy to achieve, and positioning is crucial. At a distance, enemies at the end of Carl’s range will get hit twice, while up close, being near to a wall increases his damage output significantly as thepickaxereturns quicker. However, in other situations, when an enemy brawler gets close to Carl, he struggles.

For his super, he spins around, moving quickly and dealing damage to nearby opponents. This can be used to aggressively chase down an enemy or to escape from one, depending on the situation. Overall,Carl has fair damage output and good moveability, but he doesn’t excel in any particular mode or map. Although he’s decent, there are generally better brawlers that offer more than him.

9Penny

Good Area Control, But Situational

Penny is great at controlling areas of a map with her attack and super, a turret which shootscannonballsthat leave an area of fire on the ground after impact. After hitting a target, Penny’s attack bursts into three separate blasts that shoot in a cone shape, damaging any targets behind the original. This allows her to deal significant damage to multiple brawlers if they’re clumped together, forcing enemies to split up. Plus, with her Heavy Coffers star power, her attacks split into five, dealing more damage in a wider area.

Despite her control capabilities, Penny doesn’t have the best damage output against single targets and her turret can be easily dodged and destroyed depending on the map. This makes her situational and she’s best used in Heist, Hot Zone and Gem Grab.

8Jacky

Strong Splash Damage Tank

Jacky’s attacks pass through walls and damage nearby enemies in a circular ring around her, dealing more damage the closer they are. This allows her to defeat groups of enemies, and enemies taking cover. Her super compliments her well by pulling enemies towards her, for her and her team to eliminate. This also makes her good in Brawl Ball and on certain maps where there’s lots of cover for her to deal damage behind.

Both of Jacky’s star powers are good and worth purchasing. Counter Crush converts 30% of any damage Jacky takes into her own attack, increasing her damage output significantly. Hardy Hard Hat reduces the damage Jacky takes by 20%, increasing her survivability and making her even harder to eliminate. Plus, her Pneumatic Booster gadget briefly increases her speed, allowing her to close the gap on brawlers and take them out. Overall,Jacky is a good option against certain backline brawlers, but she isn’t the best against other tanks, which makes her inconsistent.

7Gus

Ranged Support That’s Limited

Gus is a long-ranged support brawler who deals good single target damage. After he lands four shots, a spirit will drop that heals friendlies or can be exploded to deal damage to enemies with his Kooky Popper gadget. While hisspiritsheal for a good amount, they will be spawned wherever an enemy is hit, which will usually be an area of the map that Gus and his teammates do not occupy, limiting their healing potential and making his explosive gadget even more important.

For his super, Gus creates a shield around himself or another friendly brawler which gradually depletes. This is great for increasing Gus’ own survivability or to help a teammate who is on low health. While Gus is an all-round good brawler, he doesn’t specialize in any game mode, he isn’t as strong as other long-range brawlers, and he isn’t as great at healing as other support brawlers.

68-Bit

Long-Range, High Damage, But Slow

Despite his slow movement speed, 8-Bit has high health and is great at dealing lots of damage at all ranges. He fires six beams per ammo, dealing huge damage if they all land. Furthermore, his super is a turret which increases the damage output of all friendly brawlers in its area of effect by 35%. While its radius isn’t massive, its damage increase is always useful. Players just need to be careful not to bunch up too heavily around the turret and risk being taken out in one go.

His star power, Boosted Booster, reduces this risk by increasing the turret’s radius by 50% and boosting its damage increase by an additional 15%. While this is strong, his Plugged-In star power is typically better as it increases 8-Bit’s movement speed around the booster, which is his biggest weakness. Overall,8-Bit is a superb damage dealer who iseffective at supporting his teamin control game modes such as Hot Zone and Gem Grab.

5Jessie

Spawns A Terrific Turret

Jessie shoots energy orbs which bounce between enemies after hitting a target, up to a maximum of three times. This allows her to punish opponents that clump together. Plus, her super spawns aturret, named Scrappy, that shoots at enemies, locking down an area of the map until it is destroyed. Jessie’s damage output may not be the highest, but Scrappy can soak up lots of damage while dishing it out itself. Plus, with her hypercharge, her turret gets even bigger and deals even more damage.

Jessie is strong in game modes such as Gem Grab, Hot Zone and Brawl Ball, but she is particularly powerful in Heist, where her turret can deal huge damage to the safe if not dealt with. Overall,Jessie is a good all-round brawler who only gets stronger as her gadgets, star powers and hypercharge is unlocked.

4Darryl

Roll In, And Take Out

Before a recent buff, Darryl was a weak brawler, but now he’s one of thebest tanks in the game. His regular attack fires a flurry of shotgun pellets, which deal high damage at close range. For his super, Darryl rolls into action, activating a 50% damage reducing shield, bouncing off walls, and knocking away enemies he hits. This is typically used to engage enemy brawlers at close range, but it can also be used to escape from a tricky situation. His buff increased the number of rolls he gets for each super from one to two, allowing him to maneuver into and out of battles much more effectively.

Therefore, Darryl can now quickly close the gap on his opponent, eliminate them and escape to heal up and regain ammo. Plus, his super charges itself over time. In general,Darryl is an amazing close-range brawler who is great in most modes and maps.

3Tick

Annoying Area Control

Tick throws three mines that spread out in a triangle upon landing. These mines explode after a few seconds or on contact with a target, making himgreat at zoning off areas of the map from behind the safety of a wall and at long range.Despite his slow reload speed, Tick can continuously cover key areas with his mines, making him particularly great in Hot Zone and Gem Grab. Additionally, Tick’s super launches his head, which charges towards enemies and explodes on contact, dealing hugedamage.

This is great at mitigating Tick’s biggest weakness, which is close-range engagements, where his small health pool is quickly depleted. Deploying his head on top of an enemy not only deals big damage, but it pushes them away, giving Tick the opportunity to escape. Overall,Tick is exceptional at applying constant pressure to the enemies and locking down areas of any map.

2Dynamike

High Damage Thrower

Dynamike’s regular attack throws two sticks of dynamite that explode on impactanddeal good damageon hit. His super throws a huge barrel of dynamite that deals massive damage if it hits an enemy. Plus, he can deal this damage from behind the safety of walls. Just like the other throwers in the game, Dynamike’s biggest weakness is at close range, and any brawler who manages to close the gap on him without being eliminated is likely to take him out.

Dynamike may not control the map as well as Tick since his throwables explode immediately after landing, but he offers much more damage output, which is only added to by his super, Demolition, his hypercharge, Boomer, and his Satchel Charge gadget, which can stun enemies, giving Dynamike a free kill on them. Furthermore,he is a strong option in any game mode, but particularly on maps where there’s lots of cover.

1Rico

Shoots Bouncy Bullets Of Destruction

Rico shoots five long-range bullets per attack. Each one does decent damage and can bounce off any walls they hit, allowing Rico to damage enemies behind cover and around corners. This makes Rico strong on a range of modes and maps, whether there’s lots of cover or not. If there are lots of walls, Rico has more options to bounce his shots and if there’s little cover, his long-range means he can hold his own against most other brawlers. Although his low health does make him susceptible to snipers such as Piper and Bea.

Rico’s super fires twelve bouncy bullets that pierce through enemies and gain more range the more they bounce. This makes him great at dealing huge burst damage and at taking out groups of enemies quickly. Overall,Rico is an amazing brawler whose attacks are great at any range and whose bouncing bullets only get more powerful the more players use him.
