Though a mountain of new features and mechanics have been added over the years,Call of Duty Zombies, at its core, is still a game that revolves around surviving for as long as possible. Naturally, weapons play a pivotal role in this process. EachCall of Duty Zombiesentry has a set of weapons that are considered by the community to be the most efficient at tackling the undead horde, and Wonder Weapons are usually at the very top of that list.
From the Ray Gun and all of its variants to the Origins staffs, to the Der Eisendrache elemental bows,Call of Dutyhas had more than its fair share of excellent Wonder Weapons over the years. But it’s also had its fair share of disappointments.Call of Duty: Black Ops 6has three Wonder Weaponsspread across its two maps and, in a rather bold move, one of these is the return of one of the most disappointing Wonder Weapons of all time. Thankfully, it’s seen some major improvements since its 2012 debut.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Finally Redeems The Jet Gun
The Jet Gun’s Disappointing History in Call of Duty Zombies
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’s Jet Gunis still widely considered to be one of, if not the worst Wonder Weapon of all time. Only available on the map TranZit – which is infamous in its own right – the Jet Gun takes a lot of time and effort to build, and it cannot be found in the Mystery Box. Once forged, the Jet Gun itself is decently powerful, being able to drag zombies into its turbines and turn them into bloody goo.
But the Jet Gun has one infamous issue that has kept it at the bottom ofWonder Weapon tier listsfor over a decade. As players useBlack Ops 2’s Jet Gun, they’ll notice that the pointer on the left dial on the weapon’s sights will move further toward a red area. Once the pointer hits the red, the Jet Gun explodes in the player’s hands, damaging them, and scattering all of the weapon’s pieces around them.
The player then needs to collect all of these pieces, head to a workbench, and create the Jet Gun all over again to continue using it. The time and effort required to use the Jet Gun simply isn’t worth its fleeting damage output.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Jet Gun is Worthy of The Wonder Weapon Title
Along with the iconic Ray Gun,Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Liberty Falls mapgives the Jet Gun its long-awaited second chance. Thankfully,Black Ops 6’s version of the Jet Gun is exponentially better than its 2012 predecessor. For a start,Black Ops 6’s Jet Gun no longer explodes after use. Instead, players can now use the Jet Gun’s primary turbine fire indefinitely, with it simply needing a few seconds to charge back up once it’s been depleted.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Jet Gunalso has a new, extremely powerful alternative fire mode. Players can deplete the Jet Gun’s ammo supply for one large burst of explosive damage that targets all enemies in an arc in front of the player. This alternative fire mode is excellent at quickly clearing out large hordes, though it does render the Jet Gun inoperable for a few seconds while its ammo recharges.
Another key improvement thatBlack Ops 6has made to the Jet Gun is that it can now be Pack-a-Punched. Doing so will increase the weapon’s damage output.
