Since its inception, theCall of Duty: Black Opsseries has had a few staples that everyone should expect. There tends to be a fast-paced, mysterious campaign filled with twists and turns, a fantastic round-based zombies’ mode, and the iconic Nuketown map will be given a brand-new twist.Call of Duty: Black Ops 6is no different, as all of this once again appears. And while its iteration of Nuketown is awesome to see,Call of Duty: Black Ops 6could do something entirely new with the concept.
BecauseNuketown has appeared in everyBlack Opsgame, there are many different iterations of the iconic map. However, every single version tends to only appear in the game it is introduced in before being replaced in the next chapter. ButCall of Duty: Black Ops 6is already shaking it up by reintroducing the original version on November 1. Since Treyarch seems to be exploring the subseries' past, it feels only natural that other Nuketowns get their time in the spotlight once more.

Black Ops Has Many Nuketowns Waiting to Be Reintroduced
The first version of Nuketownwas introduced with the release ofCall of Duty: Black Opsin 2010. The map was relatively small, only fitting two two-story houses with backyards and a road with a couple of cars. This style and size made the map an instant fan favorite, as it made for some fast-paced frantic multiplayer action. So, instead of replacing it with something else, Treyarch quickly made it a staple of theBlack Opsseries.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2ended up introducing Nuketown 2025, which would take that original concept and update it to a 1960s aesthetic, with everything else staying pretty much the same. Additionally, the studio would add a version of this map to its Zombie mode. With the release ofBlack Ops 3, the map was reformatted into Nuk3town, which incorporated the game’s new movement style and gave it a 2065 feel.Black Ops 4would then give players a Russian version and would also reintroduce the Zombies map. Finally,Black Ops Cold Warwouldremake it as Nuketown ‘84, an abandoned version of what came before.
Black Ops 6 Could Be the Place to Do Just That
That isfive different iterations of Nuketown, or seven if players also count the two Zombies mode ones. WithBlack Ops 6, the original version from 2010 will be reintroduced. While it remains to be seen if it still packs the same punch as it did 14 years ago, the fanbase is seemingly very excited to get their hands on it. And if it ends up being extremely popular once more, then Treyarch cannot stop there.
Black Ops 6could be the home of every single iteration of Nuketown if given the chance. All of these versions may be similar, but they were also each special in their own way. The aesthetics were different, each one took into account their specific game’s movement style, and players have been debating about which is better for years. So, it would be a shame if none of the others got their chance to shine again, even if it was just for a limited-time event.
If Treyarch does not introduce the other Nuketowns into multiplayer, then it should at leastreintroduce the Zombies versionto the game. Although not as advanced as some Zombies maps, Nuketown Zombies felt special. It was fun seeing this iconic map through a whole new lens, and its small layout made for a very different type of Zombies experience. SinceBlack Ops 6has given players some of the best Zombies yet, it only seems natural to give them one of its most fun maps as well.
