Summary
Call of Dutyis revamping its user interface, which should go a long way in addressing fan complaints. For the past couple of years,Call of Dutygames have been housed under a single app called Call of Duty HQ. While some find the app to be a convenient way of switching between differentCall of Dutygames, others have heavily criticized it as being cumbersome and frustrating to use.
Unfortunately for anyonehoping for Call of Duty HQ to go away, Activision is sticking with it for the upcomingCall of Duty: Black Ops 6. But whileCall of Dutyfans are stuck with Call of Duty HQ, the good news is that the UI is getting a major revamp. And better yet, fans don’t have to wait for theBlack Ops 6release date on October 25 to see the UI’s first changes.
Activision has explained that the newCall of DutyUI will “evolve over three initial phases.” Phase 1 starts on October 21. This phase will see the new UI go live, withCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3andtheCall of Duty: Warzonebattle royale gamegiven primary status. Then, on October 25,Call of duty: Black Ops 6will takeModern Warfare 3’s spot, making it easier for fans to jump into the new game. Clicking onBlack Ops 6will send players to the game’s specific UI, in turn allowing them to access the Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies modes. And finally, Phase 3 will coincide with the launch of Season 1, with the Battle Pass integrated in the UI andWarzonegiven a new interface similar to that ofBlack Ops 6.
Call of Duty’s New UI
What’s been shown of the UI looks fine enough, and it will also make it easier for players to manage whichCoDgames they have installed.Call of Dutygames continue to have massive file sizes, so hopefully the UI ensures that players aren’t downloadingCoDgames that they don’t need.
It will be interesting to see how fans react to the newCall of DutyUI, especially since the first version of it is going live beforeBlack Ops 6is even out. It’s entirely possible changes will be made based on fan feedback, but that remains to be seen. Regardless, fans can count on plenty of future updates forCall of Duty: Black Ops 6itself, withNuketown coming on November 1and even more content launching with the eventual Season 1 update.
