Activision has announcedit will be using AI in its efforts to catch and remove cheaters fromBlack Ops 6. The company made the announcement in a new blog post, sharing details about how the system will work. “Fighting cheats today – on the client where illicit programs are activated – is a little like battling on a bad guy’s home turf: it is their machine and their code," said Activision. “Kernel-level drivers on PC have enhanced anti-cheat’s reach, but cheaters are already offering cheats that go beyond the kernel, even going as far to utilize special PC hardware that is designed entirely for attacking games and enabling cheating.” As stated earlier, cheating has long been an issue forCall of Duty, though Activision seems to be incredibly focused on ensuringBlack Ops 6remains as fair as possible.
Black Ops 6 Using AI to Ban Cheaters
Activision claims that cheaters “can run and hide,” but with AI, trails can be followed to find them. “Cheat developers can’t hide player behavior. How people play – the legit, the phony, the good, and the bad – gives us information and we use that to build ways to pick those bad folks out of a lineup. We already have data from cheaters but to help build out profiles for those God-tier players we examine the data from the Call of Duty League – where every match is recorded, and every stat is preserved.“Cheaters successfully invaded theBlack Ops 6’s beta, though it seems like the game’s full release will pose a substantial threat to those breaking the rules. “There’s more in progress around what we’re doing with AI beyond behavioral models and as work continues, we’ll share what we can.”
In addition to extensive new anti-cheat measures,Black Ops 6will also feature the return of classic Prestige, something that has long been requested by fans. Treyarch shared details aboutBlack Ops 6’s Prestige system in a recent update, revealing the game will feature a total of 10 different levels for players to grind through, each having their own reward and unlockables. Prestige is not linked to seasonal content, meaning players will be able to reach max level on day one without waiting for future updates.Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode could also be a return to form, with Treyarch taking the game mode back to its round-based roots with Liberty Falls and Terminus, the game’s two new launch-day maps.Black Ops 6releases on July 19, 2025.
