Summary

Call of Duty: Warzonehas finally made changes to the frustrating muzzle smoke, and while visibility has now improved significantly at close range, it still isn’t consistent across varying distances from the target. These changes were rolled out as part of the October update, but, strangely enough, they weren’t mentioned in the patch notes.

With the shift in focus toCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, the Season 6 update forCall of Duty:Warzone&Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 3wasn’t quite packed with a lot of content. While the update did add some new weapons and limited-time game modes, the community was expecting more from the last season. One change that particularly didn’t go down well in the community was the addition ofmuzzle smoke inCall of Duty: Warzone’s Season 6 update, which made it incredibly difficult for players to see their opponents. The developers seem to have finally tweaked the muzzle smoke in the game, but there is a catch.

In a new post on theWarzonesubreddit, user pnokmn highlights a change that wasn’t mentioned in the recentCall of Duty: WarzoneOctober update patch notes. They add that the DTIR’s muzzle smoke was secretly reduced in the update, but it’s not exactly what one would expect. While the smoke is much less invasive and visibility is noticeably better when the target is at close range, as players increase the distance, the smoke once again takes up a significant part of the field of view.

Call of Duty: Warzone Fans Call Out Pay-To-Win Blackcell Blueprint

While the smoke itself is quite annoying to deal with, fans have also expressed their frustration over the Blackcell skin. If players use the Blackcell blueprint along with the DTIR, the smoke reduces significantly. While there is still a bit of smoke while using the Blackcell skin, it is mostly directed towards the side, making it less invasive for players. This is not the first time that a gun has been termed as pay-to-win. For instance, theMAC-10 inCall of Duty: Warzonealso faced similar accusationsin the past, but those were mostly due to a bug. However, this one seems more intentional, considering that the smoke was tweaked, yet it is still nowhere close to the Blackcell blueprint.

Apart from the distance issue, many noted that the smoke was reacting strangely to the bullets. In the video, while using certain scopes, the smoke would start flickering, which is yet another annoying distraction when using the gun. Considering that Activision has been actively makingchanges based on player feedback forCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, many are hoping that the developers will do the same forCall of Duty: Warzone.
