Summary
Hit indie titleVampire Survivorsreveals a new collaboration with Konami’sCastlevaniaseries, promising the biggest DLC release to date. Since it’s release two years ago,Vampire Survivorsquickly went on to become a massive success for Luca Galante and the team at Poncle. In fact, the team has continued that momentum by releasing new updates for the game, through both free and paid DLC, and by collaborating with other big franchises to add unique elements to the indie title.
While giving fans original content early on through Legacy of the Moonspell and Tides of Foscari, Poncle has turned the tables on players a bit with the more recent DLC packs. For example, Emergency Meeting brought Innnersloth’s iconic Among Us characters into Vampire Survivors with playable Crewmate characters, weapons, and adventure mode. Following that was theannouncement of Operation Guns forVampire Survivors, bringing the Contra series to the game with its rapid-firing guns, grenades, and everything else one would expect to see. Now, Poncle and Konami are collaborating again to bring another iconic series to the hit indie title.
In a franchise collaboration that just makes too much sense,Vampire Survivorsand Konami’sCastlevaniaseries are finally crossing over. The latest content pack forVampire Survivorsis called Ode to Castlevania and promises another 10 hours of gameplay for what Poncle is calling its biggest DLC to date. A new trailer shows off a lot of the upcoming content, including someiconic bosses from theCastlevaniaseries. With a massive new map to explore, Poncle has also been teasing plenty of secrets to discover and the possibility of a vampire finally being in the game.
Vampire Survivors Ode to Castlevania DLC Launch Date
Poncle is planning this DLC pack to be a big experience for players, admitting that Ode to Castlevania is around 70-80% as big as the baseVampire Survivorsgame. As such, Poncle has set the price point to be slightly bigger thanpreviousVampire SurvivorDLC packs, though with this one, players will have 40 new weapons, 30 new music tracks with some classicCastlevaniatunes also available within the music selector. The DLC also includes over 20 playable characters from iconic series mainstays like Trevor and Simon Belmont, Alucard, and many more from the franchise’s long history.
As forCastlevania, it’s been a rollercoaster of sorts for fans based on recent announcements this year. Konami launched theCastlevania Dominus Collectionin August, giving fans a way to replay the highly rated Nintendo DS titles on modern platforms. However,Castlevaniafans still waiting for a new gamewere met with a slew of crossover announcements instead, as the franchise has recently collaborated with games likeDead by Daylight, V Rising, andDead Cells, and even showed up in Team Asobi’s popularAstro Bot. While Castlevania remains in the forefront of the gaming industry, it seems fans will be waiting even longer until a proper mainline game is announced.
