Civilization 7draws nearer, and as a franchise known for its attention to detail, each new trailer or gameplay tease brings fans a virtual feast of content. Among these are Wonders, buildings that depict iconic sites on Earth and offerCivilizationplayers huge bonuses to their empire.
Despite the great many wonders that have been confirmed or otherwise speculated, the keen eyes of fans are noticing the absence of Kilwa Kisiwani. This wonder is largely considered the strongest in all ofCivilization 6, and it questions whether the game is rebalancing for its power or leaving players on the edges of their seats.
The Formidable Wonder Kilwa Kisiwani Must Hit Civ’s New Installment
Sid Meier’s newest game is already setting itself apart, as did its every predecessor, with remarkably improved visual detail, historical accuracy, and complex systems designed to retainCivilization’s place on the throne of strategy games.Meier has described his “33/33/33 rule” forCivilizationsequels, which states 33% of the game should keep features, 33% should improve upon systems from the previous version, and 33% should be completely new. So when it comes to Kilwa Kisiwani making a comeback, anything seems possible.
Kilwa Kisiwani is Civilization 6’s Secret Weapon
Kilwa Kisiwani is a Medieval Era Wonder that grants three envoys when built and has a massive boost to those who pursue City-States. When the player isSuzerain of a single City-State, Kilwa’s location city receives a +15% boost to the yield provided by it (religious, industrial, militaristic, scientific, trade, or cultural). When the player is Suzerain to two or more City-States of that type, every city gets an additional +15% boost.
Kilwa Kisiwani is a better way to get rewards that can take more expensive wonders to get individually. For instance, Wonders like the Ruhr Valley, Oxford University, and Broadway grant one city +20% of their respective yields - at significantly higher production costs and later in the game. Its yields might be more tangible when granting culture or science, meaning players with Kilwa will unlockbetter civics and better techat a potentially faster rate than other empires, snowballing them to victory.
Kilwa’s power is immense for a number of reasons: Suzerain status is consistently easy to get (especially on larger maps with more City-States), the Wonder comes in an earlier era, and its yields are uniquely empire-wide compared to most ofCiv’s Wonders. That could be reason to cut the Wonder fromCiv 7, as its strength is admittedly disproportionate. On the other hand, it’s beloved amongCivplayers and could, for those in multiplayer games, fuel a fierce competition to get it if it retains its abilities.
Several Wonders Have Been Confirmed For Civ 7
Despite the possibly contentious nature of Kilwa Kisiwani at this stage, many Wonders can clearly be seen in the early looksCivilizationplayers have been feasting on. In recent weeks, iconic buildings have received their fair share of hype, especially givenCivilization 7’s absolutely stunning graphics. The recognized Wonders include but are not limited to:
There are sure to be many more Wonders, especially as the developers have discussed their focus on culture as a driving force behind game progression.Civ’s new eras systemonly encourages empire-wide diversity and discovery, so it will certainly be interesting to see how Wonders play into that, especially if the Wonders system itself is adjusted.
