Clash Royalerewards its players with free Evolutions cards and new events every now and then, but this is the first time we’re getting a free champion card. That’s right – players can now sign in andclaim the new Goblinstein championwithout spending a dime. This is certainly a big deal for free-to-play players who constantly need to grind to max out a deck.
However, getting your hands on the Goblinstein champion won’t push your trophies up overnight. You still need tobuild a solid deckaround the card to climb up the ladder. And that’s where we come in! We’ve compiled some of the best Goblinstein decks inClash Royalethat you should check out to overwhelm your foes and secure victory.
Clash Royale Goblinstein Champion Card Overview
Goblinstein is a new 5-elixir champion card inClash Royale. When deployed, the card spawns two units, the Doctor and the Monster. They are two completely separate troops with their own HP and damage. The Doctor is a ranged unit that can attack both air and ground troops. His attack applies a small stun and attack reset on each hit. On the other hand, the Monster only targets the enemy buildings, similar to otherwin conditions like Golemor Giant.
Goblinstein can be deployed in the middle of the arena to split the two units and send them in opposite lanes.
Goblinstein’s active ability, Lightning Link, creates an electrical link between the Doctor and the Monster. Any enemy troops caught between the two units take massive damage over time for a certain duration. If the Monster dies, it drops a Lightning Rod on the ground. Activating the ability chains the Lightning Link to the dropped Lightning Rod in that case. Unlike the Doctor’s basic attacks, this ability does not stun or reset attacks.
The ability costs two elixirs and has a 15-second cooldown.
To use the ability, the Doctor must remain on the field. If players take down the Doctor before the Monster, the opponent can no longer use the Goblinstein ability, eliminating the champion card’s main threat. Lightning and Rocket are excellent counters to Goblinstein since they can take out the Doctor safely on the opponent’s side of the arena.

Goblinstein Splashyard
There’s no arguing that Graveyard is one of the most broken win conditions inClash Royale. While balance changes have made it easier for players to win against the classic Splashyard, the arrival of Goblinstein has brought it back into the meta with a solid win rate.

Goblinstein
The one big flaw that Splashyard decks usually have inClash Royaleis that it doesn’t have a real tank. Sure, you’ve got the Baby Dragon, and some people even use the Evo Knight in some variants, but it’s not the same as having something like the Giant or the Evo Pekka that can tank a lot of tower hits for your Graveyard.
This is where Goblinstein comes in. Since the Goblinstein Monster targets buildings only, bridge-blocking won’t be as easy for your opponents. The Goblinstein Doctor also regularly zaps and resets the enemy troops, which means Inferno Tower or even the Mighty Miner won’t be a problem for you to handle.
With this deck, your opponent must pick between defending the Graveyard Skeletons or distracting or killing the Goblinstein Monster. Your Baby Dragon, Evo Skeletons, Barbarian Barrel, andthe Evo Goblin Cagecan handle the defense. You’ve also got decent spell-cycle damage with the Tornado and Poison in your deck.
Both Cannoneer and Dagger Duchess work well in this deck.
Goblinstein Pigs EQ Cycle
TheArcher Queen Pigs EQ cycle is a classicClash Royaledeck that has seen a lot of success in the old meta. With Goblinstein added to the game, this is another deck that’s suddenly become popular once again. Boasting a solid win rate and decent usage among players, this is a must-try deck for players looking to push trophies with the freeClash Royalechampion.
The good thing about this Goblinstein deck is that it plays pretty much the same way as it did with the Archer Queen. Since both of these champions cost 5 elixirs to deploy and 2 elixirs for the ability, you’re not making the deck heavier by adding in the Goblinstein. This deck can exert insane pressure on the opponent’s tower by constantly cycling Royal Hogs and Earthquake.
But then again, countering the old Pigs Eq cycle deck was easy if you had a Fireball in your deck. On top of that, the old variant also struggled against swarm troops like the Minion Horde or the Skeleton Army. Goblinstein is the solution to both of these problems.
Goblinstein is a secondary win condition in this deck. So, if you’re struggling to break through with Royal Hogs because of the Fireball, use Goblinstein to build up a second push. On top of that, you can apply dual lane pressure by going in with Royal Hogs on one side and Goblinstein on the other while placing down Earthquake to take down your opponent’s defensive buildings. You also have Cannon, Royal Delivery, Evo Skeletons, and Evo Ice Spirit for some solid defense.
We recommend going with the Tower Princess Tower Troop for this deck.
Evo Pekka Dragon Goblinstein Freeze
Evo Electro Dragon is the latest Evolution to get added toClash Royale, debuting at the same time as Goblinstein in celebration of the Shocktober 2 event. The Evo Pekka Dragon Goblinstein Freeze is not exactly a cheap deck to build, requiring you to unlock not justthe Evo Electro Dragonbut also the recent Pekka Evolution. But if you manage to get your hands onboth of these Evolution cards, this is an excellent deck for climbing the trophy road.
If you don’t have the Evo Electro Dragon, use the Evo Skeletons instead.

This deck plays similarly toa traditional beatdown deck, with the Goblinstein as your primary win condition. But you’ll also have the Evo Pekka to fall back on if the game goes to the triple elixir stage and you need a second way to damage the enemy tower.
Each of the cards in this deck has a lot of synergy. Tornado works well with Ice Wizard, Evo Electro Dragon, and Goblinstein’s ability. Freeze can help get your Evo Pekka to the opponent’s tower. FIsherman can also pull the opponent’s card away from your Pekka or Goblinstein.
Whilethe deck is strong, it has one big weakness. You’ll have to find a way to break through the opponent’s defense to win with this deck. Since you don’t have a big spell like Fireball, Lightning, or Poison, you don’t have a way to deal direct tower damage. However, if you manage to build up a good push with the Goblinstein and Evo Pekka, your opponent will likely be scrambling to defend.
Cannoneer is the perfect tower troop for this deck.
Goblinstein is an exciting new addition toClash Royaleand will certainly affect the meta as Season 64 progresses. The decks we mentioned should give you a couple of good options to try out. But it’s also important to experiment with the champion, trying out different card combos to find the best deck for your play style.
