Lash is one of the mostfun characters to play inDeadlock. With massive damage potential and insane levels of mobility, a master Lash player can change the tides of a team fight all on his own. However, it’s also one of the most difficult heroes to master, requiring quick thinking, fast reflexes, and a good understanding of the game.
Make no mistake, you’ll need a lot of practice to learn the hero. Of course, the first step here is understanding how his abilities work and what items to build on the hero. That’s where we come in. In this Lash build guide, we’ll showcase the hero’s ability order and item progression and drop some tips on how you want to play him inDeadlock.
Deadlock Lash Overview & Ability Details
The biggest strength of Lash is his mobility. The hero excels at engaging the enemy from a distance and running away when things turn south. His base stats are impressive, and he has above-average DPS and Spirit Resist. The hero uses a primary weapon that fires quick bursts of bullets with a fast projectile speed.
Like most heroes inDeadlock, he has three standard abilities and an ultimate.
Upgrades
Ground Strike
Stomp the ground beneath you, damaging enemies in front of you. If you perform Ground Strike while airborne, you quickly dive towards the ground. The damage grows slower after 25m.
Grapple
Pull yourself through the air toward a target. Using Grapple also resets your limit of air jumps and dashes.
Death Slam
Focus on enemies to connect whips to them. After channeling, connected enemies are lifted, stunned, and slammed into the ground. Your victims and any enemies in the landing zone will be damaged and slowed.
Press the Left Mouse Button to throw connected enemies early. Enemies that are not in the line of sight or go out of range during the latch time will not be grabbed.
Lash Build Guide (Ability Order & Item Progression) in Deadlock
Lash is an extremely versatileDeadlockhero that can be played in a variety of ways. For our build, we’re focusing on buffing up his Spirit Power so that he can deal massive damage with his abilities. The build requires you to play actively on the map, moving from one lane to the next and hunting for kills. Here’s how the build works:
Lash Ability Order
The first ability you’ll need to unlock with Lash is Ground Strike. After that, unlock Grapple to use in combination with Ground Strike. Go for Flog next for the AOE heal. Use it to heal up from the creep wave when needed. Finally, unlock Death Slam as soon as it becomes available.
The upgrade order for Lash is pretty simple. Upgrade Ground Strike to the max as soon as possible. After that, put one AP into Grapple and then max out Flog. Put two more APs into Grapple and then max out Death Slam. Once all your other abilities are maxed, put 5 AP into Grapple.
Lash Item Progression
Lash’s abilities scale well with his total Spirit Power. With the right items, he can dish out insane levels of damage with his abilities. Here are the items that you’ll want to build on the hero:
Early Game:
For the early laning phase, you’ll want to pick up some cheap, effective items that add Spirit Power, Weapon Damage, and Vitality. Since Lash is an early-game hero, these lane pickups will help you play aggressively when you enter the mid-game stage of the match. Extra Charge and Mystic Burst are two absolute must-haves on the hero. It adds an extra charge to Grapple, giving you more airtime and mobility.
Enduring Spirit gives you Spirit Lifesteal, which, in addition to Flog, gives you a lot of sustain. After that, go for High-Velocity Mag for weapon damage and Infuser to bump up your Spirit Power and Spirit Lifesteal even further. Extra Stamina and Extra Health are alwaysnice items for any heroin the laning phase. Monster Rounds and Basic Magazine are the last two items that you’ll want to pick up on Lash for the early game.
Mid Game:
You’ll want to go for Cold Front as you enter the Mid Game. Think of it as a secondary source of damage for the hero. Restorative Locket is the next item you’ll pick up. Since Lash roams around the map going from one lane to another, the Restoration Locket can help youkeep your health upduring your downtime. Go for Mystic Shot next for the extra Spirit Damage from your basic weapon.
After that, upgrade your Extra Charge, Mystic Burst, and Extra Stamina to Rapid Recharge, Improved Burst, and Superior Stamina. Since Lash relies greatly on his mobility, go for Debuff Reducer next. Sell Infuser and replace it with Improved Spirit for anextra boost in Spirit Power. Finally, upgrade your High-Velocity Mag to Pristine Emblem.
Mid-Game Situational:
Deadlockis an extremely dynamic game where you’ll often need to adjust your build depending on the enemy lineup. Silencing Glyph is a good item to go for if you’re playing against a Dynamo who keeps warping out or other similar heroes. Mystic Vulnerability and Healbane can help you play aggressively or take down tanks more easily.
Warp Stone can add an extra mobility spell to your toolkit. Spirit Lifesteal is great if you keep dying to enemy heroes during trades. Improved Reach is useful when you’re having trouble closing the distance with the enemy. But since you have limited item slots, you should only go for items you’ll need for that specific match up. As for Improved Bullet Armor and Improved Spirit Armor, go with one between the two, depending on the type of damage you’re having trouble playing against.
You typically want to go for these items afterunlocking your Flex slots.
Late Game:
Lash excels in the early game, but his late game isn’t bad either because of his high spirit-scaling abilities. Shadow Weave is a must-buy on the hero when the game goes late. With the invisibility effect from this item, you’ll be able to get into position to use Death Slam on multiple enemy heroes during team fights. Boundless Spirit is always nice on the hero for the massive Spirit Power boost and overall stats. Unstoppable is another excellent item to pick if the enemy team has a lot of crowd-control abilities. You’ll also wanta bit more healthin the late game, and Fortitude is the perfect item for that.
Upgrade your Basic Magazine to Titanic Magznie next, and finally, go with Escalating Exposure for that stacking Spirit Amp effect to deal even more damage to your abilities.
You can skip Unstoppable if the enemy team doesn’t have the tools to lock you down.
How to Play Lash in Deadlock
Lash is a highly mobile hero who can severely punish overextension. For the early game, though, you’ll want to focus on buying your early items. The hero is excellent at poking. So make sure you constantly hit your lane opponent whenever you may. If you manage to get in close, use your Ground Strike to lift the enemy and dealas much weapon damage as possible. Use Flog when your HP drops too low.
Flog also lets you clear jungle camps andfarm up Soul quickly.
Once you have your early items, start rotating and playing the map. Start looking for kills actively and offer utility to your team whenever your ultimate is off cooldown. But also make sure you’re not falling behind on Souls. Make sure you farm jungle camps as much as possible and push out the creep wave tokeep your Souls advantage.
Lash isn’t necessarily the team’s main DPS. Instead, he tries to make the fight chaotic for the enemy team, forcing them out of position andoffering crowd control with his abilities. Despite having a built-in healing ability, Lash is extremely easy to take down when his abilities are unavailable. So make sure you don’t overextend and look for opportunities to punish your opponents.
Avoid forcing fightsagainst heroes like Wraith, who can lock you down.
You’ll want to target the squishy heroes in the backline during team fights. Heroes likeAbrams or others with huge HPpools aren’t really the target you want to go on. He’s also not fun to play when your team is behind. In those situations, you’ll want to start split-pushing and forcing your enemy team to focus on you instead of taking down your objectives.
Lash is one of the more difficult heroes to master inDeadlock. The hero is squishy and can die easily if you don’t know what you’re doing. However, once you master the hero, you can win entire team fights for your team. Feel free to try out this Lash build in your nextDeadlockgame, and let us know how it goes!
