The recent launch ofDestiny 2’s new Episode: Revenant introduces a variety of new weapons and exotics to the game, though Hunters seem to have gotten the short end of the stick this time as the new Hunter-exclusive Mask of Fealty exotic helmet suffers from an issue that prevents players from getting the most out of it. While Bungie is aware of the problem, theDestiny 2developer has stated that it’s aiming to roll out a fix for the item sometime toward the end of October.

Unlike the first episode, Echoes, which came before it, the first act of Episode: Revenant dropped in its entirety when the new episode went live on October 8. Thecontent released so far forDestiny 2’s Episode: Revenantincludes the whole portion of the story packaged in the episode’s first act, the act one season pass complete with a variety of new cosmetics and armor sets, a plethora of new weapons and exotic gear pieces, and new maps for Onslaught which come packaged with new defenses to try out. Players can brew all sorts of helpful tonics with Eido at home in the Last City, but many fans are so far disappointed with how short the first act itself actually is.

Hunter Mains in Destiny 2 Are Getting The Short End of The Stick This Time

Of course, this is the trade-off of the episodic content being released via full acts at a time, rather than being drip-fed each week. Still, Episode: Revenant has given fans plenty of new toys to play with. Alongside the pair ofexotic weapons new toDestiny 2, each class in the game has received a new exotic armor piece – though there’s a good deal of controversy surrounding the Hunter’s new Mask of Fealty, which has been released in a bugged state. This isn’t the first time Hunter mains haven’t been able to fully enjoy a new exotic upon release, as some may also remember Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk being disabled for around a month due to a bug shortly after it was first introduced two years ago.

What The Exotic Mask of Fealty Does

Thankfully, the issue with the newDestiny 2Hunter exoticisn’t nearly as dire. The Mask of Fealty exotic helmet bolsters the Hunter class' stasis abilities, causing hits and bounces with the Withering Blade melee ability to not only return melee energy, but also spawn stasis crystals. Additionally, shattering frozen enemies and stasis crystals with Withering Blade will cause more Withering Blades to erupt from the explosion.

The Problem With This New Hunter Exotic

The only problem is that shattering frozen enemies with the melee ability isn’t consistently spawning a spread of Withering Blades as it should. While it’s true that every other component of the exotic appears to be functioning correctly, the ability to spawn more blades from destroying frozen enemies is a big deal – potentially even being the most valuable effect that the exotic provides. There’s a lot of potential for the melee ability to synergize nicelywith other utilities inDestiny 2such as the Duskfield Grenade, which can offer a quick and easy way of freezing groups of enemies quickly.

When Fans Should Expect to See a Fix

What’s more, fans are upset to learn that this particular exotic is set to see a fix in a few weeks' time. According to Bungie, the issue is planned to be resolved as part of an end-of-October hotfix, but until then, fans will have to sit tight and make do with the exotic in its current state. It’s unfortunate that fans won’t be able to take full advantage of the exotic in time forDestiny 2’s new Vesper’s Host dungeon, which is set to go live soon on October 11. Once the problem is addressed, though, this new exotic helmet is sure to pave the way for some extremely powerful Hunter builds as the episode progresses.
