Destiny 2’sseasonal events bring exciting, limited-time loot for players to grind for. This year, with the Festival of the Lost,the Halloween event, players can get their hands on four reprised weapons from previous years.
On top of this, Bungie is introducing a new weapon type, the heavy burst shotgun, which many players will be dying to get their hands on. Each of these weapons has a clear role in the game, whether damage dealing, utility, or slaying out in the crucible. Here is a list of the best rolls to look for, for both PvE and PvP.
5Mechabre
Aggressive Frame Arc Sniper Rifle
While sniper rifles are not the most popular picks for PvE, the buff they got in Episode Revenant makes using them feel a lot better. Mechabre is an all-around decent sniper, with the ability to roll Triple Tap to constantly refresh ammo, as well as either Firing Line or Vorpal Weapon for a damage boost in either team or solo content. While there are better snipers out there, Mechabre is not a bad pick if Arc Surge is active and a sniper is required.
In terms of PvP performance, Mechabre feels great. While not one of the most popular picks for PvP players, the combination of Lone Wolf with Opening Shot or Closing Time will give the player a snappy scope, making quick one-tap headshots a breeze. If a newer player is looking to get into the world of sniper rifles, the Mechabre is not a bad place to start, although it doesn’t feel as important as some of the other weapons from the event.
4Jurassic Green
Rapid-Fire Frame Solar Pulse Rifle
Jurassic Green is yet another solar weapon to roll with the coveted Heal Clip and Incandescent combo. Offering devastating room-clearing potential, consistent healing, and synergy with Solar subclasses, this pulse rifle is sure to feel right at home with the likes of the Calus Mini-Tool,Luna’s Howl, andNullify. The only downside to this is the frame, with a lower damage output than other great Solar options, this classic pulse rifle may go overlooked by many.
Rapid-Fire frame pulse rifles are not the most popular in PvP either, especially when compared to their adaptive and aggressive frame counterparts. Jurassic Green is a great example of why, struggling at range. This can be remedied, however, by the use of Keep Away, offering increased range, reload speed, and accuracy. Coupled withHeadseekerfor better aim assist and increased headshot damage, this gun will serve any guardian well.
3Braytech Werewolf
Precision Frame Kinetic Auto Rifle
The Braytech Werewolf is making its return hot on the tail of another fan-favorite auto rifle returning: Chroma Rush. While Chroma Rush has the community swooning, Braytech Werewolf rolls with arguably better perks and a harder-hitting weapon frame, making it perfect for PvE. Combining Rewind Round with either Onslaught for lower-end PvE gameplay, or Kinetic Tremors for higher-end, allows the gun toconsistently refund ammo and maintain high damage output.
Braytech Werewolf doesn’t feel like the type of gun built for PvP, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t well worth trying out. Combining Dynamic Sway Reduction and Tap The Trigger will give the player a laser beam of a gun, feeling accurate for its entire magazine. Or, if the player is looking for a ramp-up in damage, Target Lock offers an accurate player the opportunity to spin up their damage the longer they are in a fight, making kills more consistent.
2Acosmic
Rapid-Fire Frame Void Heavy Grenade Launcher
With the surge in popularity of rapid-fire grenade launchers, it is undeniable that Acosmic will be slotting into many guardian’s inventories. With the new perk Withering Gaze allowing a self-activated weaken for simply aiming down sights, and Bait and Switch offering a 30% damage increase, this weapon is going to be a must-have in many raid groups in the future. Acosmic can roll perks like Reverberation and Chain Reaction, which would make it a stellar ad-clear option. Its real potential is in boss damage scenarios.
In terms of PvP rolls, there isn’t much that stands out here. Impulse Amplifier makes the projectile move faster, giving other players less time to respond to the high explosive ordinance barreling towards them, but in the final perk column, there isn’t anything truly geared toward PvP. Destabilizing Rounds (or Chain Reaction) would be good in an instance where multiple enemies are huddled together, increasing the area-of-effect damage the grenade can do, but it’s clear this grenade launcher was crafted for PvE.
1Arcane Embrace
Heavy Burst Frame Arc Shotgun
Arcane Embrace is this year’s new weapon, and it has brought with itan entirely new subtype of shotgun. Firing a two-round burst with each trigger pull, this shotgun has the potential to output some very high damage. In PvE, both Slideshot and Fourth Time’s The Charm will offer the player refunded ammo consistently, depending on whether they are comfortable sliding around the arena or hitting consistent crit shots. Surrounded offers an easy 40% damage bonus when close to three or more enemies, whereas Precision Instrument offers a stacking bonus with each consecutive precision shot.
Voltshot is also a possible powerhouse perk if using the shotgun for general ad-clear. However, the ammo-refunding perks counteract Voltshot’s reload requirement, making it less desirable on this gun. Due to this being a new type of weapon, it is hard to truly know its power in PvP until it can be seen running rampant or fading into obscurity. Despite this, using Slideshot and Closing Time will offer a consistent range boost that will make getting one-shot kills more consistent at range, as well as increase the weapons handling and aim assist.
