Summary
Dexter: Resurrectionis gearing up to begin filming in January 2025, with Michael C. Hall officially signed on to return to the iconic role of Dexter Morgan onParamount+with Showtime. He is the only actor who has been confirmed for the sequel series, but there are many more fan favorites who could return. C. S Lee portrayed Vince Masuka in the originalDexterseries, and rumors persist thathe could be coming back inDexter: Resurrection, and this might’ve been teased with an off the cuff remark the actor made on a podcast recently.
Vince Masuka’s return would bring humor backto the Dexter-verse, after it was largely missing inDexter: New Blood. C. S Lee has worked consistently since he last played Masuka in 2013, but he was enthusiastic about his role in the show when he appeared on the brand-new YouTube series,Dexter’s Kill Roomlast week. It was evident that he missed playing the character, and could clearly still inhabit that iconic dirty Masuka laugh at the drop of a hat.
What Did C. S Lee Say On Dexter’s Kill Room Podcast That Could Hint At Masuka’s Return?
Anticipation is growing for not one, but two news shows in theDextertelevision universe. First up, it’s the prequel series,Dexter: Original Sinwhich premieres on Paramount+ with Showtime on Jul 23, 2025. This will be followed by the sequel series which will air in summer 2025. In conjunction with the return of the Dexter-verse,Paramount has launched a series on YouTube where former members of theDextercast discuss their involvement in the series, while watching episodes with a fellow guest in a kill room-styled studio. The official synopsis for the series reads:
He’s smart, he’s good-looking, and he’s got a great sense of humor. He’s Dexter Morgan, everyone’s favorite serial killer. As a Miami forensics expert, he spends his days solving crimes, and nights committing them. But Dexter lives by a strict code of honor that is both his saving grace and lifelong burden. Torn between his deadly compulsion and his desire for true happiness, Dexter is a man in profound conflict with the world and himself. Golden Globe winner Michael C. Hall stars in the hit SHOWTIME Original Series.
Episode 3 dropped on YouTube on July 24, 2025, and it saw C. S Lee sit down with Justina Valentine fromWild N Outto watch the pilot episode and discuss the character of Vince Masuka. The actor hasn’t aged a day since he last played Masuka in 2013, and he was affable and open to discussing behind the scenes stories of his time on the show. However, he raised eyebrows when he brought back Masuka’s iconic filthy laugh, and it was like he’d never stopped playing the character. But it was the comment that followed it that caught the attention of viewers:
I feel Masuka resurrected
This could’ve been an off the cuff remark that holds no subtext whatsoever, or it could’ve been a sneaky hint towards the character of Vince Masuka returning inDexter: Resurrection. It was the choice of words that felt quite striking, as it appeared to reference the upcoming series' new title. Fans would love nothing more than to see Masuka resurrected, with so much more to explore with his character.

Many fans were upset that Vince Masuka and other legacy characters didn’t return inNew Blood. However, the change of setting from theiconic location of Miamito Iron Lake in Upstate New York meant that an appearance by Masuka wasn’t logical. Despite this, it was still disappointing not to catch up with the inappropriate lab geek. For eagle-eyed fans, there was an Easter Egg that confirmed that Masuka was still around in the Dexter-verse. Angel Batista’s email account was visible on his desktop computer, and there was some correspondence with Masuka. There was an email about a lab report and an invitation to Masuka’s bachelor party. So, it confirmed he’s still working at Miami Metro, and he’s possibly evolved after getting married.
Vince Masuka’s Best Quotes
Dexter: Resurrectionhas many logical ways it could bring back Vince Masuka. The upcoming series will pick up immediately after the end ofNew Blood, withAngel Batistaon his way to Iron Lake to quiz Dexter about the Bay Harbor Butcher murders. It’s possible he’ll bring Masuka with him, especially as he might be needed for forensic purposes. Also, if the action does return to Miami at some point, which is likely as that is where the majority of Dexter’s crimes took place, Masuka is probably running the forensics department at Miami Metro by now.
