Summary

Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred expansion includes plenty of new content for players to enjoy, including a continuation of the base game’s story and the new Spiritborn class. While there is a countless number of side quests to complete and gear to collect, players may happen across a curious collectible called a “Tenet of Akarat” as they explore the expansion’s new Nahantu region inDiablo 4as well.

Vessel of Hatred’s Tenets of Akarat aren’t necessarily that difficult to collect, but they are worthwhile and can help players progress toward earningNahantu Renownrewards. What Vessel of Hatred’s Tenets of Akarat Are and How They Work

Vessel of Hatred’s Tenets of Akarat Essentially Replace Altars of Lilith as Collectibles

For the most part,Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred expansion replaces the base game’sAltars of Lilithwith Tenets of Akarat. However, rather than rewarding players with special stat bonuses or Paragon Points for all their characters on a particular Realm, the Tenets of Akarat grant players XP and Nahantu Renown, which they can use to unlock useful things like Bonus XP, Gold, and extra Skill Points. Additionally, rather than simply collecting the Tenets of Akarat, players are required to fulfill various objectives tied to the specific Tenet, whether that be defeating enemies or completing a puzzle. Finally, whereas there are 160 Altars of Lilith for players to find, there are only 30 Tenets of Akarat inDiablo 4Vessel of Hatred’s Nahantu region.

There Are Four Types of Tenets of Akarat in Nahantu, Each With a Different Objective

As players explore the depths ofDiablo 4Vessel of Hatred’s Nahantu region, they are likely to encounter the Tenets of Akarat in their four unique forms. Each type of Tenet requires players to fulfill a different objective, and they can often prove challenging due to how surprising they initially are before players grow more comfortable with them. Tenets of Akarat begin as Defiled Shrines but are cleansed once players fulfill the objectives of the Stone Guardians near them. Once an objective has been fulfilled, simply interacting with the now-cleansed Tenet of Akarat rewards players with XP, Nahantu Renown, and a lore tidbit.

One of the simplestTenets of Akaratsees players defeating enemies that spawn near the Defiled Shrine, although these foes are often tougher than they look. Another type of Tenet of Akarat requires players to activate each of the nearby Stone Guardians as quickly as possible. These are often the more difficult Tenets, depending on how far apart the Stone Guardians are scattered. However, dodging can sometimes give players the extra speed boost they might need to get from one Stone Guardian to the next in time.

For the most part,Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred expansion replaces the base game’s Altars of Lilith with Tenets of Akarat.

A third type of Tenet of Akarat also involves players simply activating Stone Guardians in the area. However, this one has a catch: only certain Stone Guardians can be activated, or the puzzle will fail. Generally, the solution to which Stone Guardians should be activated is posted somewhere nearby, and it’s not something players will need to search for either, asDiablo 4makes it fairly easyto discern where these solutions are. Finally, another type of Tenet of Akarat requires players to destroy the vines enveloping it and making it the Defiled Shrine that it is.

The Tenets of Akarat inDiablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred expansionmight not be the best way to earn Nahantu Renown, but they are a nice break from the normal gameplay loop provided by the DLC. Should players find themselves regularly venturing off the beaten path in Vessel of Hatred, they are likely to run into the 30 Tenets of Akarat scattered throughout the Nahantu region.
