Disney Dreamlight Valleyhas had plenty of celebrations for holidays since its release in 2022, including for Halloween. With several in-game events in celebration of the spooky season happening in the past, many fans ofDisney Dreamlight Valleyexpected 2024’s Halloween festivities to be no different. Fan expectations were correct, but disappointment was still headed its way.
Troubles began whenDisney Dreamlight Valley’s last update,Jungle Getaway, was released on October 9. Players hoped that the game’s most recent Star Path,Disney Dreamlight Valley’s battle pass system, would feature spooky Halloween items for the upcoming holiday. Instead, players received the Night Show Star Path, featuring punk rock items and a collaboration with pop culture fashion brand Loungefly.
Trick or Treating Returns to Disney Dreamlight Valley
Trick-or-treating was the only confirmedaddition toDisney Dreamlight Valley’s 2024 Halloween celebrationsat the beginning of October. Fans anxiously awaited more information from Gameloft and Disney, but received none. The Trick or Treat event has been included in the game’s Halloween celebration since release. It features five tasks that players must complete, all with very simple game mechanics. Players were shocked to discover that rather than add new elements to the event, Disney and Gameloft stuck with the previous year’s gameplay.

The Trick or Treat Event Awards Look Awfully Familiar
Gameplay was not the only thing repeated in 2024’s Halloween event as rewards from 2023’s Halloween event are available again. For example, upon completing “Stockpiling Pumpkins,” players win the Pumpkin Stack item. This is the same exact furniture item players were given upon completing the Stockpiling Pumpkin task in 2023’s Halloween event. This occurs again uponcompleting the “Trick or Treat” task. Players are rewarded with last year’s item, a Mickey Mouse Pumpkin.
Players are also given another shot at crafting Mickey’s Halloween Candy Bowl thanks to the return of the Trick or Treat event. The exclusive item not only requires the common material clay, but two pieces of each color of the event’s limited edition candy. Though some players may be happy they’ve received another opportunity to craft the item if they missed out on it last year, another section ofDisney Dreamlight Valleyplayersare unhappy with this direction.
Gamers were told that in addition to the return of the Trick or Treat event, a free glow-in-the-darkMickey BOO Loungefly backpackand a 20% discount on the Tower of Terror furniture item would be part of the Halloween festivities. The Loungefly backpack obviously coincides with the Night Show Star Path, but a discount on the Tower of Terror, a premium shop item that costs Moonstones, also feels underwhelming.
Why Disney Dreamlight Valley May Have Repeated the Event
Of course, there’s likely a reason behind the lack of complexity in this year’s Halloween event.Disney Dreamlight Valleyhas received a surge in playersover the last year. With frequent updates occurring alongside this growth, Gameloft has certainly had its hands full.
This influx of players also may have inspired Gameloft to repeat 2023’s Halloween event. With this new playerbase missing last year’s event, Gameloft may have wanted to give new players a chance to experience oldDisney Dreamlight Valleygameplay. This would also give the developer time to work on the game’s next update.
Nevertheless, seasoned players ofDisney Dreamlight Valleyhave already experiencedthis year’s Trick or Treat event. For those wanting to test the event out for themselves, time is limited as the event concludes on November 1 at midnight, the player’s local time.
