In the days leading up to the launch ofDragon Age: The Veilguard, the developers at EA and BioWare have listed the PC specifications needed to play the game at different levels. The specifications forDragon Age: The Veilguardmay require PC players to upgrade parts of their machines, especially if ray tracing is enabled at any resolution.
EA and BioWare’s news arrived two weeks before the game’s release. As the fourth entry in theDragon Ageseries,The Veilguardis set a decade after 2014’sDragon Age: Inquisition, with two gods wreaking havoc on the land of Thedas. Players will assume the role of Rook,Dragon Age’s latest hero, and be accompanied by seven companions who will interact differently depending on the player’s choices during the campaign. Although Halloween is still two weeks out at the time of writing, thetrophy list forDragon Age: The Veilguardwas leaked onlineand revealed potential spoilers about the game.
However, playingDragon Age: The Veilguardmay require some PC players to upgrade a few components. According totheDragon Agedevelopment journal, the minimum specifications required to play the game at 1080p and 30 frames per second (FPS) are an AMD Ryzen 3 3300X or Intel Core i5-8400 processor with an Nvidia GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290X graphics card. Stepping up to the recommended specifications will require players to have an Intel Core i9-9900K or AMD Ryzen 37000X 8-core processor, alongside an RTX 2070 or Radeon RX 5700 XT GPU. The ultra settings forDragon Age: The Veilguardrequire an i9-12900K or Ryzen 9 7950X 16-core processor along with an RTX 4080 or Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU. Totake advantage of ray tracing, BioWare stated that an RTX 3080 or Radeon RX 6800 XT along with an 8-Core CPU would be required for the RT Selective setting, which enables ray tracing in specific areas.

The average performance estimates from EA and BioWare took into account upscaling options such as FSR and DLSS. Aside from the minimum listed specifications,Dragon Age: The Veilguardrequires 100GB of free space on a solid-state drive (SSD) and 16GB of RAM across the board. AMD users in particular will also need to make sure they havethe latest AMD drivers installed.
BioWare said that users should also have AGESA V2 1.2.0.7 or newer installed on AM4 motherboards running Windows 11. It remains to be seen howthe features ofDragon Age: The Veilguardwill be received by fans.
