Dragon Ball Sparking! Zerohas been making waves as a fantastic successor to the classicBudokai Tenkaichiseries. The game retains its spiritual predecessor’s knack for acolossal character rosterwhile also allowing individual fighters, even across their various forms, to feel and play in a way that is unique and true to their anime or manga depictions.
However, for many fans, the anticipation for this game doesn’t lie just in how dynamic and fun the combat feels, nor how vibrant and faithful the graphics are, but in their chance to play characters from theDragon Balluniverse who for too long have been stuck in the peripherals of the franchise, relegated to mobile and card games. These characters in particular are making waves as they take to the stage in their first proper fighting game debut within theDragon Ballseries.
This is solely aboutDragon Ballfighting games since essentially every character is available inDokkan BattleorHeroes.
Anilaza
An Uncanny Fusion From Super
Anilaza is a strange, alien beast – a hulking beast in the anime, though capable of talking in the manga. It is the product of Universe 3’s secret fusion technique, and in the anime, this fighter was strong enough to even put Goku on the ropes, mostly due to its incredible strength and the power of its ki blasts, two things reflected in its in-game stats. Like a lot of the characters from universes beyond the classicDragon Ballone, Anilaza’s design seems to be a departure from the typicalDBstyle.
Anilaza is one of thestrongest giants in the series, and though they’re a very pricey unlock inSparking! Zero, players will find this huge beast’s strengths well worth the cost as it wreaks havoc in its first proper video game debut.
Kakunsa
A Hard Hitting Universe 2 Fighter
Kakunsa is a Universe 2 fighter known for her vicious strength and speed. She has a human-like alter ego in the anime, but does all her fighting in the Kamikaze Fireballs group as a blue-skinned, vaguely feline alien creature. She is among the more obscure fighters to make theSparking! Zeroroster, and hopefully more alternate universe fighters will be joining the groupthrough upcoming DLC, but she is still a high-flying and dynamic fighter for players to get used to.
Other members of the Kamikaze Fireballs are also available inDragon Ball Sparking! Zero, and players can slowly unlock, then implement, the entire team in the game’s variety of battle modes. The introduction of such a variety ofSupercharacters has greatly broadened the available fighters - and their various forms.
Kale (Berserk Super Saiyan)
Universe 6’s Legendary Saiyan
Kale is seen to have many destructive forms throughout her appearances inDragon Ball Super, but none so much as her berserk form, which mirrors Broly’s own incredibly powerfulberserk Super Saiyan form.In this form, Kale lives up to the reputation of a hugely powerful, utterly demonic, and violently unbalanced Super Saiyan with the same level of dangerous power that people have seen Broly struggle to manage sinceDragon Ball Z.
Also similar to Broly, Kale in her default form, is very meek and timid. This seems to be a running trend among legendary Super Saiyans as, also like Broly, she becomes violent and destructive, overwhelmed with incredible power, once she achieves her legendary Super Saiyan state. While Kale has appeared in games before, and her more controlled Super Saiyan state has as well,Sparking! Zerois the first title to showcase the raw, destructive fury of her berserk state.
Kale is playable inXenoverse 2as a DLC character, but only her Super Saiyan 2 form is available. She is also a non-playable character inFighterZ.
Roasie
Another Universe 2 Warrior
Rounding out the new additions from the Universe 2 team Kamikaze Fireballs is Roasie, another fast-paced fighter capable of doling out large amounts of damage while showing deep affection and care towards her fellow teammates from Universe 2. Roasie is also on the cheaper side of available fighters, which is good, as while Zeni is dished out fairly quickly in this game, it is in piecemeal at first unless a player planson wishing for more.
Players are able to complete the entire Kamikaze Fireballs team inSparking! Zero, which is a great boon for anyone who was a massive fan of their appearance in the anime or manga.
