Though Trunks has access to several types of attacks, the Buster Cannon is one that Trunks has utilized on many occasions, including crafting variations of the move. The Buster Cannon is a ki-blast attack that focuses all of Trunks' energy into the palms of his hands, forcing out a wave of energy that can wipe out any enemy that gets in its way. Similar toGoku’s Kamehameha attack, Trunks can pull off this attack by joining his hands together or forcing out a weaker blast with one hand. Alternatively, Trunks has also created methods to fire off multiple ki blasts with the Buster Cannon, creating a more versatile approach to offense.

As a result of the attack taking little time to pull off, Trunks can strategize and attack from far distances or up close and not worry about charge-up times. While Trunks does have stronger ki-type attacks in his arsenal, as well as a sword that can slice through any foe, the Buster Cannon is a reliable attack that Trunks has used time and time again, crafting different ways to bring new usage to it during a battle.

How the Buster Cannon is Performed

Due to the ease of setting up the move, Buster Cannon is one of the most relied-upon attacks ofthe Saiyan from the future. To set it up, Trunks places his hands together, palms facing forward, and releases the high-energy blast toward his opponent. The versatility of the attack can see Trunks fire a singular explosive blast or multiple smaller attacks that can serve as both a multi-hit attack and a distraction. Because of how powerful it can be, Trunks has manifested ways to create different types of attacks using the Buster Cannon as a base for the charge of his ki.

Notable Uses Of The Buster Cannon

The Power of the Seldomly-Used Attack

The Buster Cannon attack wasn’t always as powerful as it currently is. As a matter of fact, the first time Trunks used the Buster Cannon in battle was inthe struggle against Androids 17 and 18, and the attack Trunks referred to as his most powerful move barely left a scratch and either of his opponents. Stunned and confused, Trunks quickly understood the power imbalance between himself and foes far superior in strength, and later worked on his strength to add some power behind the blast.

InDragon Ball GT, Trunks pulls out the Buster Cannon on several occasions during the battle against Baby. After being possessed by the story’s main antagonist, Trunks, controlled by Baby, continues to use Buster Cannon as one of his main attacks, creating chaos everywhere he goes. In a battle against Baby while in his Giant Ape form, Trunks hesitates to use Buster Cannon due to its inability to stun Baby, and relies more on his physical strength, which leads to his defeat.

You’re about to find out what it’s like to fight a real Super Saiyan…and I’m not talking about Goku.

In theDragon Ball Z: Bio Brolymovie,Kid Trunks battles Bio Brolyin a losing way, due to the scales tipping heavily in favor of the much larger fighter. Despite his shortcomings, Kid Trunks still dishes out some damage to his adversary, using Buster Cannon to slip out of Bio Broly’s grasp. In this battle, Kid Trunks focuses his Buster Cannon attack as a diversion, realizing he’s in way over his head and must plan his retreat before a difficult situation becomes dire.

While Trunks makes an appearance inDragon Ball Super, his attacks are concentrated on paying homage to his father, bringing out aFather-Son Galick Gunand Big Bang Attack occasionally. Though his weaker attacks feature more of the Buster Cannon style, Trunks plays more of a defensive approach as his foes become increasingly stronger and increase their lust for bloodshed. Towards the end of the arc, Trunks brings out his broken sword and uses the hopes of those around him to form a Spirit Sword.
