Dragon Ball: Sparking Zerohas already begun to draw a sizable amount of DLC speculation. This doesn’t come as a huge surprise, considering the game has already begun to reveal some of its plans for the near future. Discussion and speculation has been encouraged further thanks to recent leaks, as well as a few notable exclusions fromDragon Ball: Sparking Zero.

As far as playable characters are concerned, it almost feels strange to ask for more out ofSparking Zero. After all, the game’s roster is gargantuan enough as it is, andDragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s Season Passhas confirmed its intentions to expand further by as many as 20 additional characters. Although not currently listed as a part of this first wave of DLC, recent leaks suggest thatSparking Zerocould be preparing to address one of the roster’s biggest blind spots.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero DLC Could Embrace More Classic Characters

Dragon Ball’s Early Days Are Mostly Absent from Sparking Zero

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s full rostercurrently features more than 180 characters, so it’s understandable to assume that no stone has been left unturned. AlthoughSparking Zerohas certainly come close, there are still many iconic characters who have yet to join the fray. In truth, some entire sections ofDragon Ballhave yet to get much spotlight inSparking Zero.

Foremost among them isDragon Ballitself, the series predatingDragon Ball Zand everything that followed. Currently, the series is only really represented by one character, with that being Teen Goku. A fewiconicDragon Ballcharacterssuch as Yamcha and Roshi do have costumes that represent their early days, and this is certainly a charming nod. However, many believe the foundation for the franchise deserves more than a playful nod, and some leaks suggest that developers may believe the same.

Recent Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Leak Gives Shape to DLC Plans

Now thatSparking Zerohas officially been released, it has already become the subject of some extensive datamining. Fans have so far only been able to find characters listed, often with little direct indication of their purpose in the game. For example, leaked characters inDragon Ball: Sparking Zerocould simply be cut content, or a planned release for future DLC.

However, one leak has begun to provide only slightly more clarity. X (formerly Twitter) userProDigitalY posted two screenshotsthat revealed the existence of a “Martial Arts Pack,” which seems to be some upcoming DLC that is yet to be revealed. Of course, this Martial Arts Pack has yet to be officially revealed, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to be garnered about its title.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s Martial Arts Pack Could Give Spotlight to Early Story Arcs

AlthoughSparking Zerofully embraces the bombastic battles that the series is now known for,Dragon Ballused to have a much smaller scale.Akira Toriyama’s biggest strengthat the time was in gag manga, and he used this comedic focus to give a unique flavor to martial arts. Considering theBudokai Tenkaichiseries itself is named after a martial arts tournament, it doesn’t seem like a stretch to suggest that the Martial Arts pack may focus on the series that introduced it.

The Martial Arts Pack certainly has a vague name, which may make it difficult to predict otherwise. After all, nearly every character inDragon Ballpractices martial arts to some degree. However,Dragon Ballcertainly gave legitimate martial arts the most narrow focus, compared to the titanic scale of later series. Likewise, the multiplemartial arts tournaments inDragon Ballwere never really matched by its successors.

As the cherry on top,Dragon Ballhas plenty of iconic characters that could land a spot inSparking Zero. Demon King Piccolo, Tao Pai Pai, and Android 8 have all become clear stand-outs already. This is thanks not only to their prominence inDragon Ball, but their history inpreviousBudokai Tenkaichirosters. While the Martial Arts Pack could still turn out to have a different focus, bolstering the game’s earliest arcs is most certainly a worthy cause.
