Dragon Ball: Sparking Zerohas a titanic roster to begin with, and doesn’t show signs of slowing down any time soon. The game’s Season Pass currently advertises that it will feature more than 20 playable characters, which is an almost unbelievable number considering the base roster already includes more than 180. As much as this notion is exciting,Dragon Ball: Sparking Zerohas a lot of potential for DLC beyond playable characters.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s story modeis as fresh as it is ambitious, with eight main routes and more than a dozen What Ifs. It certainly isn’t perfect, but many existing downsides could be helped by putting more meat on the bone. With that in mind, this makes Episode Battles the perfect jumping off point for future DLC.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero DLC Should Prioritize New Story Episodes
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s Roster Doesn’t Need Expanding
The massive size ofDragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s full rosteris certainly one of the game’s biggest appeals. However, such a massive undertaking does come with its fair share of downsides. Developers have done solid work to avoid many common pitfalls of such a predicament, but discussion around DLC does bring this conversation back to the forefront.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zerois only missing a few iconic characters, and many of them are likely to be added back through DLC. However, the current roster already has almost everything most fans could ask for. With that in mind, it would be that much more bold forSparking Zeroto expand its horizons altogether.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s Episodesgive fans plenty to chew on as it is, but capitalizing on their room for improvement could be a perfect strategy for DLC. Some characters need a few chapters to round out their story, while others could simply be vehicles for fan service. Regardless, there are even some characters who may have been teed up for this approach already.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s Episode Battles Have Huge DLC Potential
After all,Dragon Ballis a vast world that is always expanding.Dragon Ball Daimabegan as recently as October 11, meaning any presence it finds inSparking Zerowill inevitably be its first adaptation ever, and perhaps the first place that many fans become familiar with it in general.Sparking Zeroshould take advantage of this opportunity, and there are actually a few different approaches that developers could explore.
Adding an entirely new Episode toSparking Zerowould be the boldest direction to take, almost to the point of sounding impossible. Thankfully, that isn’t as unlikely as it may sound. While the game may have already covered many of thebestDragon Ballprotagonists, it hasn’t exhausted its options just yet. If characters as short-lived as Goku Black and Jiren could receive their own Episodes, surely someone as prominent as Broly could do the same.
As exciting as an entire Episode would be, it seems much more likely that developers would take on a slightly more manageable task. After all, there are some characters that already have Episodes who are more than deserving of additional Episode Battles. For example,Gohan and Piccolo’s potential Season Pass inclusioncould be used to adapt the events ofDragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Story DLC Would Be the Best Case Scenario
There is still one last story feature inSparking Zerothat could provide the greatest value to players.Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s Sparking Episodesare a massive part of its identity, and adding more post-release could be the perfect answer to story-related DLC demands. Sparking Episodes are surely less demanding to design, but that doesn’t make them any less ambitious. In fact, Sparking Episodes remain responsible for some of the most compelling plotlines inSparking Zero.
Developers can take any number of approaches when creating additional story content, and that’s exactly what makes the prospect so exciting. Adding entire new Episodes would be sure to shake up conversation, butnew Episode Battlescould likely provide a similar effect, while Sparking Episodes seem to be a uniquely strong approach. Regardless, it would be a pleasant surprise ifSparking Zeroallows players to keep exploring new corners of theDragon Balluniverse long after its release.
