Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s Season Pass Has Clear Priorities
Dragon Ball: Sparking ZeroDLC speculationis now in full swing, although the game has yet to release anything beyond a single pre-order bonus. However,Sparking Zero’s Season Pass does include information about its priorities. Apparently, the 20 new fighters will include characters from bothDragon Ball Super: Super HeroandDragon Ball Daima.
Super Herowas a well-received tie-in movie forDBS, andDaimais the newest entry inDragon Ballin general, having only begun on October 11. With this in mind, their prominence in the upcoming Season Pass makes plenty of sense. However, thanks to the limited scope of both projects, fans can pretty easily predict which characters might make it intoDragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s first DLC pack.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’s Sparking Zero Characters May Already Be a Done Deal
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zerohas actually already announced Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 as the first characters to be included in the game’s Season Pass.The Gamma Androidswere introduced inSuper Hero, and followedDragon Ball’s classic enemy to ally trope. Their inclusion inSparking Zerokeeps with the Season Pass' priorities, but it also happens to expose the shortage of options available.
Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 certainly aren’t the only options, but there isn’t a great wealth of characters beyond them either. Most commonly requested forSparking ZeroareBeast Gohan and Orange Piccolo, fan favorite new transformations of classic characters. There is Cell Max, another antagonist of the film, who would also likely be categorized as an alternate form. Beyond these three characters, there isn’t much left to get out ofSuper Heroin the realm of fierce fighters.
Dragon Ball Daima’s Recent Release Gives It Questionable DLC Prospects
The case forSparking Zero’sDragon Ball Daimacontentis arguably even more dire.Daima’s version of Goku is already featured in the game as a pre-order bonus, but he admittedly feels somewhat incomplete as a character. Still, his inclusion makes it more likely that we will receive yet another alternate version of characters like Vegeta and Piccolo.
Thankfully,Dragon Ball Daima’s early episodeshave revealed a few other important characters. Degesu, Arinsu, and Gomah serve asDaima’s main villains, while Glorio and Pansy seem to be solid allies to the Z Fighters. Furthermore, the Supreme Kai seems to be a prominent supporting character inDaima, and there’s no reason he couldn’t become playable inSparking Zero.
The Interesting Implications of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s Season Pass Lineup
At the end of the day, both of these series are rather limited in scope.Dragon Ball Daimaonly recently began to air, whileSuper Herois only a single movie with a runtime of less than two hours.Dragon Ball Daima’s version of Goku already feels extremely limited, so one can imagine what the case would be for the movesets of other characters from the series. Meanwhile,otherDragon Ballmoviesonly tend to receive as many as two playable characters.
Rather than solely pushing pessimism about the Season Pass, one can easily draw another conclusion aboutSparking Zero’s DLC. WhileDaimaandSuper Heroare the current focus, it seems very likely that plenty of other characters from outside those sources will get their time to shine once these two properties have had their moment. In fact, a recentDragon Ball: Sparking Zerodatamineseems to support this premise.DaimaandSuper Heroare unlikely to disappoint, but they will definitely need some help in order to pushSparking Zero’s roster even further beyond.
