EA Vancouver has released a new update for its popular mixed martial arts fighting game,EA Sports UFC 5, adding two new fighters to the game’s constantly expanding roster of athletes. Alongside new fighters and alter egos, the latest update forEA Sports UFC 5, which brings the game to version 1.15, also makes a handful of gameplay improvements to striking and a few minor bug fixes.

WhenEA Sports UFC 5first launched back in 2023, it received generally positive reviews from critics, but a mixed reception from players. While the title is often labelled as the best MMA gaming experience to date, fans took issue with the game’s lackluster roster of fighters and repetitive career mode. In response to the backlash, EA Vancouver promised the community it would continue to update the game with new fighters on a regular basis. Now, one year one,EA Sports UFC 5continues to add new fightersand has reached 98% parity with the current top ten UFC athlete rankings.

While rumors have began circulating that the studio has nowstarted production onEA Sports UFC 6, the content updates for the series' current installment don’t appear to be slowing down. On October 17, EA Vancouver released a brand-new patch forEA Sports UFC 5, adding two new fighters, a handful of fresh alter egos, and some new gameplay updates. While fans will be eager to jump into patch 1.15, EA did also confirm that it would come with some short server downtime. According to the official patch notes, which can be found down below,EA Sports UFC 5will be offline between 9:30 AM PT and 10 AM PT. Players will then need to download and install the latest update to jump back in to the game’s online modes.

As always, the latestEA Sports UFC 5update comes with some new alter egos. After winning the community vote, ex-UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will be receiving a new alter ego from UFC 226 back in 2018, alongside a new ‘best of Salt Lake City series’ featuring Leon Edwards rom UFC 278 and Justin Gaethje from UFC 291. Also debuting on October 17 is the ‘best of Riyadh Season Noche UFC’ featuinrg Diego Lopes and Merab Dvalishvili, and Israel Adesanya’s alter ego from UFC 243 as part of the ‘Prime IV series’. More alter egos will also be released on October 22, including Rampage Jackson from UFC 75, Conor McGregor from UFC 205, and more.

In terms of new gameplay updates,EA Sports UFC 5players will need to manage their distancemore effectively as jabbing somebody from close range will now only barely reduce the damage of incoming strikes as EA says it has “reduced the muffling effect of strikes that land from a bad range.” There’s also a handful of fixes to leg kicks, stand-up striking, and more.

Best of Riyadh Season Noche UFC Alter Egos will feature Diego Lopes, Valentina Shevchenko, and Merab Dvalishvili in their custom Riyadh Season Noche Fight Kits. Diego and Merab will be available on October 17, with Valentina’s Alter Ego being added on July 25, 2025.
