Summary
In the Fall of 2024, a great dealof enthralling anime began to air. However, the return ofRe:ZEROhas stood out, generating much popularity from fans of the iconic franchise. Following the adventures of Subaru Natsuki, the young hikikomori’s transportation to a foreign fantasy world thriving with magic creates a comical and entertaining dynamic, with the enigmatic protagonist facing many trials and tribulations along the way.
Besides Subaru, the half-elf Emilia is a prominent character residing in Lugunica, acting as a Royal Selection candidate hoping to save and rescue her people. Due to Emilia’s caring and pleasant attitude, the character is surrounded by many friends in her entourage as she continues her quest to rule, each building a rapport with the story’s heroine.

While not part of Emilia’s entourage, Reinhard van Astrea has helped Emilia and her friends on different occasions as they continued to descend into danger. At the show’s start, the mighty knight Reinhard played a crucial role in halting Elsa Granhiert’s attack, saving Subaru, Felt, Old Man Rom, and Emilia in the process.
At every interaction,whether at the Royal Selectionor their meeting in Priestella, Reinhard and Emilia have been nothing but friendly and cordial, with Subaru often being a facilitator in their relationship.

ThroughoutRe:ZERO, the extravagant Roswaal L. Mathers has overseen Emilia’s actions as he acts as the half-elf’s benefactor in the race for the throne of Lugunica. While appearing to be a staunch supporter of Emilia, the lord plots to use Subaru’s Return by Death power to lead Emilia to success in the Royal Selection process.
Despite this, Roswaal’s plans backfire in the Sanctuary, as Emilia succeeds in freeing the Sanctuary citizens, proving her worth. As a result,Roswaal begins to fully back Emiliaand her newfound resolve, vowing never to go against the half-elf.
Divine Protection of Soul Language
Amasaki Kōhei (JPN)/ Zach Aguilar (ENG)
One of Season 2’s MVPs, Otto Suwen acted as a pivotal figure in saving the Sanctuary, aiding Subaru when necessary. As a result, Otto’s action helped Emilia, leading the merchant to become part of the half-elf’s expanding team. Since the debacle of the Sanctuary arc, Otto has been shown to be a valuable asset to Emilia, helping the Royal Selection candidate in her political affairs.
When Emilia and her party travel to Priestella, Otto briefs the half-elf on the landscape of the political race, with the pair’s friendly relationshipcausing Subaru to get antsywith the talented merchant.
Gains strength in Oni form
Minase Inori (JPN)/ Brianna Knickerbocker (ENG)
Out of the maid sisters Rem and Ram, Rem comes across as the more compassionate character, with this being particularly apparent in their interactions with Emilia. Despite Rem not being as close to Emilia while at Roswaal Manor, Rem shows great respect to the half-elf, with part of her job requiring her to protect Emilia at all costs.
WhenRem grows suspicious of Subaruat Roswaal Manor, the maid eliminates Subaru to protect Emilia from potential assassins that wish to harm the half-elf, showing the lengths she is willing to go to help an ally such as Emilia. Despite this, the existence of the demi-human vanished from the memories of all who knew her after being attacked by the Witch’s Cult, except for Subaru. Even with Rem’s conditioning, Emilia recognizes Rem’s importance based on Subaru’s care and affection for the loyal maid.
Yin Magic-user
Arai Satomi (JPN)/ Kira Buckland (ENG)
Beatrice, the complicated spirit, is initially found to be distant from Emilia while both inhabit Roswaal Manor. Due to waiting over 400 years for someone to end her suffering, Beatrice alienates herself from Emilia and others, hiding herself in the Forbidden Library. However, Emilia’s father figure, Puck, is seen to have a flowing rapport with Beatrice due to their association withthe Witch of Greed, Echidna.
After the exploits of the Sanctuary arc, where Emilia and Beatrice both undergo mass character development, the pair appear much closer at the start of Season 3. As a result, the pair become Subaru’s closest allies as they team up to combat the Sin Archbishop of Wrath, Sirius Romanée-Conti.
Clairvoyance
Murakawa Rie (JPN)/ Ryan Bartley (ENG)
As one-halfof the famed Oni sisters, Ram is one of the characters closest to Emilia throughoutRe:ZERO. While starting as a servant of Emilia due to her association with Roswaal, Ram becomes closer with Emilia in the Sanctuary arc, with the pair acting more like friends, outgrowing their subordinate relationship.
When Emilia completes Echidna’s first trial, Ram is there to comfort and support the half-elf, stating her admiration for her growth as she tackles an array of trials and tribulations. Ram even goes as far as to beg Emilia for her assistance in saving her beloved Roswaal, with the pair coming to a mutual understanding, resulting in a functioning friendship.
Adept at using many magic types
Uchiyama Yumi (JPN)/ Erica Mendez (ENG)
Since the beginning ofRe:ZERO, the chirpy spirit Puck has been beside Emilia whenever the heroine requires aid or comfort. Acting as Emilia’s parental figure, Puck and Emilia have a long-lasting kinship stretching all the way back to Emilia breaking out of ice in Elior Forest.
From that point on, the pair have been inseparable as Emilia goes from strength to strength in her mission to free her people, once queen of Lugunica. Despite Puck going into hiding due tothe overexertion of mana, Puck has aided his daughter whenever she ends up in a crisis, with his care for Emilia having no bounds.
Return by Death
Kobayashi Yūsuke (JPN)/ Sean Chiplock (ENG)
While Emilia progresses as a candidate in the Royal Selection process, the character has Subaru by her side at every moment to protect and help her in her ambitious goals. Much ofRe:ZEROrevolves around Subaru’s love for the half-elf, with the protagonist risking his life on several occasionsthrough Return by Death to preventEmilia from coming to harm.
Despite Subaru’s overbearing nature, the character has come to respect Emilia’s wishes. In return, Emilia has found Subaru to be an invaluable team member, even allowing the out-of-place character to become her dedicated knight, furthering their ever-growing and loving relationship.
