Fortniteand Disney are working together to give fans an experience on a completely different scale, and some new information has come to light, letting players in on some interesting details. WhileFortnitehas taken part in dozens of collaborations with all sorts of brands and franchises, there’s no doubt that Disney is the company with whom they’ve worked the most. This season, Absolute Doom, is completely centered on Marvel characters, so it’s a clear example of the massive scale of these collaborations.

At the start of 2024, Disney invested $1.5 billion in Epic Games and revealed that it had plans to create aDisney xFortnitegaming and entertainment universe. The reveal trailer for this partnership was quite ambiguous, but it showed some of the features that it would bring to the table. As part of the gaming universe, fans will be able to play and create their own Disney content inFortnite. In terms of entertainment, it intends to bring Disney shows and movies toFortnite, making it possible for players to watch them directly within the game engine. Lastly, it mentioned that players would be able to shop, which most likely meant unlocking Disney character cosmetics inFortnite.

In aninterview with The Verge, Saxs Persson, Epic Games EVP, shared some important details about theupcoming Disney experience inFortnite. Since Epic and Disney have already joined forces so many times before, the Disney experience will be held inFortnite. This mutual agreement benefits both companies, and rather than Disney going out of its way to make a similar game of its own, it will give players access to the experience throughFortnite, and, as Persson put it, gamers will be able to enter the Disney universe through “the Disney front door or theFortnitefront,” which likely means players will be granted access directly throughFortniteor a separate Disney platform connected toFortnite.

Next Disney Skins Coming to Fortnite

Given the multitude of franchises that have made their way toFortnite, Epic Games has appliedage ratings to someFortniteexperiences, making it impossible to use certain cosmetics when playing them. However, this will work the other way around with the upcoming Disney shop inFortnite. While restricted skins couldn’t be used in certain game modes, now certain Disney skins won’t be usable in restricted game modes. Persson affirms that companies have the right to control how their IPs are used and set boundaries for each one. For example, if a Snow White skin was released, it wouldn’t make sense for her to drop into Battle Royale with some Micro Dual SMGs.

Until now, the community has only had access to very limited information on the upcomingFortnitex Disney collab. However, as the months go by, more will surely surface. According to the D23 livestream a few months ago, Disney villains should be thenext crossover event inFortnite.
