However, it now seems like the Duty Support system will soon include even more dungeons. DuringFinal Fantasy 14’s most recent Live Letter, director and producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed optional dungeons found outside the Main Scenario would eventually be added to the Duty Support system. This process could take time, but it will begin with Halatali in Patch 7.1,Dawntrail’s first major content update, which should be released in mid-November.

Duty Support Expanding to Optional Dungeons in FF14

A Realm Rebornhas a lot of optional duties, including Cutter’s Cry, the Sunken Temple of Quarn, the Aurum Vale, and nearly a dozen hard mode versions of other dungeons. Subsequent expansions had fewer dungeons outside the Main Scenario, with the last few expansions only having a pair of optional endgame ones, butStormbloodactually had a couple that were a part of the Four Lords storyline. However, Halatali is the lowest-leveloptional dungeon inFinal Fantasy 14, so it is a fitting place for the critically-acclaimed MMORPG to start.

Though it was not confirmed in the Live Letter, many of these optional dungeons still use frustrating mechanics or labyrinthine layouts that can be confusing for new players.Final Fantasy 14may redesign parts of these dungeonsand bosses to be more uniform, as it did with those in the Main Scenario.

Needless to say, fans are excited to see the Duty Support system expanded even further. Having the option to do dungeons with NPCs lets those who prefer to play alone complete content, and also allows players to experiment with new jobs. SomeTrials inFinal Fantasy 14: DawntrailandEndwalkereven let players complete them with Duty Support, so many fans hopeFinal Fantasy 14goes back and adds NPC functionality to some of these battles as well.
